The 7 Chakras – A New Perspective on Chakra Healing Part 2

5. August 2012 category Uncategorized

This is a follow-up post to http://beyond-within.com/bloglibrary/a-new-perspective-on-chakras/ and looks at each of the 7 chakras in the energy body, focusing on common problems and suggestions for basic healing.

Root Chakra

The Root chakra is where the concepts of stability and security are processed, and so defines your comfort zone. By grounding through your Root chakra you can quickly vent overloading energy and regain a sense of space and calm with which to tackle your day, or an impending crisis.

Energy can stagnate at the Root chakra, causing you to feel bogged down in daily routine, trapped or suffocated by a situation, or “too busy” and resentful of the demands others place on you. You may come across as overbearing to others.

Too little energy at the Root, and you’ll find it hard to feel welcome or comfortable anywhere, you’ll struggle with routine and leave tasks piling up. You’ll seem flighty and unreliable to other people. Physical issues stemming from problems with this chakra can include problems with the feet, legs and hips.

Root Chakra Balancing Technique

It’s a good idea to have a quick chakra clearing exercise for the root chakra, for whenever you may need to get centred quickly. Sit or stand so your feet touch the ground fully. Focus on your breathing, as you exhale push overwhelming thoughts, overloading energy, worries and feelings of discomfort out of your body and into the ground.. as you breathe in pull in supportive, calm, capable Earth energy.

Navel Chakra
The Sacral chakra is where sexuality and raw emotion are processed, and is where the seat of instinct, the subconscious and our animalistic nature lies. This Fiery chakra is the primal source of creativity and what it means to be human.

Too much energy at the sacral chakra and you’ll be an emotional wreck, frustrated with many conflicting feelings and feeling “on edge” with pent-up, nervous energy.

A lack of energy in this chakra shows as an emotionless attitude, feelings of detachment, lack of creativity or enthusiasm and distaste towards sexuality. You’ll seem very uncaring and distant to those around you. Physical problems here manifest in the kidneys, reproductive organs and digestive system.

Sacral Chakra Balancing Technique

The Sacral/Navel chakra responds well to fiery energy, and this will cure most simple imbalances. Lie comfortably and focus on the rhythm of your breathing. Imagine creative and passionate energy all around you, flowing like liquid fire, creating connections between all things. As you breathe, suck in this pleasantly warm energy and feel it shoot to your Sacral chakra, burning away any creative blocks and regulating your energy there into a steady flow that you feel comfortable with. This is very physical, active energy so be ready to use it!

Solar Plexus Chakra (The Yellow One)
The SP chakra is all about the Ego, and your sense of power and identity. Self confidence, “presence” and charisma. I’ve likened the ego to an operating system before, so let’s continue with that.. Energy piling up here makes you an insufferable egotist needing to control and script every tiny aspect of your existence. Hello Internet Explorer!

A weak SP/yellow one turns you into a tasty snack for any passing New Age Shark Guru.. you may think you’ve embraced spirituality by relinquishing your ego like that nice man Mr Tolle tells you to, but you’re actually surrendering to the passive model of Lightworker-hood that means the only real change you’ll affect in the World will be to make someone else richer. Well meaning, but needing a lot of guidance to function? Hello Linux!

Problems in the SP chakra manifest physically as unhealthy looking skin in cases of too much energy, and looking gaunt and frail when there is too little energy, and as stomach/digestion issues as a general rule.
Solar Plexus Chakra Balancing Technique

If you struggle to for recognition when you are part of a group, you can strengthen your SP chakra with a simple exercise. Imagine soft yellow light radiating from your SP, that creates a bubble of you-ness as it expands outward. Extend it to a distance you want to network within, and see it change to your favorite color, because this is meant to be about you taking the initiative and standing out in a sea of yellow, clamoring ego-energy.

The Heart Chakra

The Heart chakra is where we process energy we give to, and receive from, other people. Love energy is associated with the heart, but an overload of other energies normally processed through the navel (eg: anger, jealousy) can cause the heart to feel hardened, broken and cold.  I’m pretty sure everyone knows what a broken heart feels like. Physical issues stemming from heart chakra problems can manifest as chest problems.  Unstable energy in the heart chakra can cause a person to act clingy and needy, too little energy leaves them unable to connect with other people, effectively isolating them.

Heart Chakra Balancing Technique

Watery, emotional energy heals the heart; visualize water surrounding your heart chakra, flowing through it and healing as it goes, and carrying away any pain or dark energy as it passes out of your body.

The Throat Chakra
The Throat chakra processes conscious information and communication. This chakra resonates strongly with Air energy and energetic blocks here can choke off ideas and thought processes. This leads to mental confusion and creative/ideas issues such as Writer’s block, being misinterpreted by other people and misunderstanding them in turn.

If you have struggle with processing large volumes of energy at your throat, you’ll feel sensory overload and a general sense of overwhelm. You’ll be prone to OCD and behavioral tics.

Physical symptoms of blockages at the throat manifest as a feeling of choking, and problems with the throat and vocal cords.

Throat Chakra Balancing Technique

Air energy is a good quick fix for the throat chakra, relax and

imagine you are standing in a huge open field in the midst of a strong, cool wind. Pull this wind energy in through your throat chakra and see it as some kind of etheric housekeeper, efficiently blowing away blockages and sweeping crowding thoughts to one side, leaving only important things for your attention. In it’s wake is a sense of calm, peace and capably efficiency; you are confident in your ability to put yourself across well, interpret other people’s intent and organize your day so it flows calmly.

Third Eye Chakra

The Third eye, or Brow chakra is the energy center related to intuition, dreams and extra-sensory perception. An overactive third eye can make you feel as though you are out of touch with reality, and living in some sort of fantasy world that is totally incompatible with real life. You’ll feel as though you are central to some kind of divine plan, but you’ll be getting it all horrible wrong. Too much energy here sees the mind desperately looking for coincidence where there is none, in some kind of psychic paranoid fantasy. Examples can be found in many claims of channeled information that turns out to be utterly false.

Third eye weaknesses cause a lack of dreams, and lead to irritability, acting on instinct but getting it very wrong, feeling out of tune with your skill-sets, feeling stuck in a rut and making out-of-character bad judgement calls.

Third Eye Chakra Balancing Technique

Watery energy is good for the third eye and heals it gently. Imagine your Brow chakra as a pane of glass that you need to view life through, reach for watery energy and wash it against the glass until it is crystal clear. From this state you can try many different third eye exercises, depending on what you want to achieve and so I won’t be detailing all of these. Making a note of your dreams every morning is a good place to start.

Crown Chakra
Divine energy flows to us at the Crown chakra. Energy blocks here are often the cause of existential crises, feelings of being cut off spiritually, and lack of faith. Headaches and lack of motivation result from crown chakra problems. An over-active crown chakra can make a person so obsessed with spirituality that they become irrational and unable to function in daily life.

Crown Chakra Balancing Technique
My favorite meditation for the Crown chakra is to sit outside under the night sky and focus on the energy and feeling of starlight, as it fills the sky. It feels like patient, silvery, expansive energy to me.. it may feel different to you.. and by pulling it to your crown you can feel it heal and open this chakra. Just 20 minutes under a canopy of stars can reconnect you to the Universe, and reassure you of your place in creation.

The 7 Chakras – a new perspective on Chakra Healing

22. June 2012 category Uncategorized

A New Perspective on the 7 Chakras

This is part 1 of a 2 part post that looks at the 7 chakras, focusing on common problems and suggestions for basic healing.

I’ve been asked to write down my thoughts on Chakras. As this is my first article, some intro is necessary, so bear with me.. you’ll only have to read it once.

If you already know what a chakra is you’ve probably read a lot of other articles and blogs on the ‘Net giving an explanation. I’ve read a hell of a lot of meta-stuff in the blogsphere that I’ve found to be derivative, contrived and written with such an air of superiority that it alienates the very people it would most be of use to: ordinary people who are looking for a little empowerment in an often confusing world.

I’m no ‘Net-Guru, nor do I wish to be. I get mighty pissed off by pontificating self-help crap that seems to be more about validating the author than sharing anything of use. I’m the go-to girl for the people around me. They want me to share my views on various metaphysical concepts because they like the fact I *don’t* follow the herd/accepted protocol, I make sense and they’ve found me helpful.

I have a scientific educational background. I won’t pretend that the concepts I’ll be discussing are “omg FACT!”. They are simply my opinion and experience, both of which I possess in obscene amounts ;)
I sense people’s energy/aura and it plays as big a part in my interactions as sight, hearing or any other sensory input.
So.. Chakras? I see them as little nodes inside the aura (the energy body), like internal organs in the physical body. That’s what they are to me.. innards. In the same way that your meaty internal organs regulate physical processes, the chakras regulate/process or integrate abstract concepts.

Healthy guts=a physically healthy You; healthy chakras=a spiritually healthy You. As always, there is crossover,  with unhealthy chakras being a contributing factor in physical issues and vice versa.

First up, or down, haha.. I always read a client from the feet up.. is the Base Chakra. It’s roughly located in the sexy bits. A healthy Base looks like a sheet of reddish/burgundy/earth colored energy mesh. (In my eyes, remember.. it may look different to you). It forms the foundation of your comfort zone; what you need to feel safe, secure, sexy and comfortable with your nearest and dearest. Problems here can leave you feeling shaken up, insecure and unable to cope with practical demands or daily routine. “Grounding”.. that feeling of having something solid beneath you, is processed in the Base. A strong, healthy Base helps you meet deadlines and keep it real.

Next comes the Navel Chakra.. guess where that is? :o
This one processes raw emotion. “Go with your guts”, “gut feelings”, “she’s got guts”.. these phrases all hint at the function of the Navel. A damaged Navel Chakra makes you feel emotionally numb, or unable to handle emotion expressed by others. Navels are in constant flux. When you feel steady and healthy emotionally it’s a very slight wobble. A fucked up Navel looks varying shades of dead, cold, hard or psychotic.

The “Yellow One” is next, aka The Solar Plexus chakra or SP. I call it “The Yellow One” and so from now on.. it is. The Yellow One is the seat of your ego.. your sense of self and will. Who *you* are! I see so many self-confessed “Lightworkers” with stunted ones that it’s not even funny o_O
A neglected Yellow One makes you feel helpless, powerless and unsure of your self, you’ll lack confidence, will and become imminently suggestible. If you’re looking to be empowered, that LAST thing you should be doing is seeking to destroy your Yellow One.

I process most of my spiritual work in my Yellow One. Or, as a good friend put it “you know yourself.. and most people are afraid of that”. Most people seek to be known, to express and validate the energy in their Yellow One. Not me.. haha, I’ve learnt not to radiate it outward all the time.. it smooshes people ;) I put my Yellow energy to other uses than clamoring for “my spot” in the world.

The Heart.. why, that’s found in your ass! ..kidding.. it’s the energetic projection of your physical heart. It morphs in appearance a lot, probably because it’s the hub of your relationships; with co-workers, lovers, your family, strangers. No relationship is constant, they all wax and wane, and this is reflected in the Heart chakra. A healthy Heart is adaptable, accommodating and sends out proto-cords, little tendrils of connecty energy. When you click with someone new.. that’s a Heart energy tendril doing it’s thing.
A sick Heart is spikey, painful, closed, tired or resigned, gray or otherwise lackluster. You’ll be having trouble giving or receiving love, or both, or even just connecting with other people.

The Throat processes your physical and spiritual voice. A healthy throat chakra is a huge asset.. you’ll be able to put yourself across clearly, being easily understood and understanding others in return. Problems here can show as feeling unable to speak, “writer’s block” or finding people suddenly talking over you and not seeming to get what you are saying. You might feel the proverbial “lump in the throat” if you have issues with your Throat chakra. It looks indigo blue to me and flickers like a constant ticker of machine code.. if it’s really messed up it can grind to a halt, like Windows‘ Blue Screen of Death.

The Third Eye, aka the Brow Chakra, is right between your eyes and a little up. It is chameleonic so don’t ask what it looks like as a generic, because each one is unique to the individual.
The Third Eye deals with the subconscious brain, intuition, dreams, and that sense we don’t have a better name for.. The Sixth sense. Issues here can cause one to feel alone, cynical, suffering nighmares and a lack of insight. I could write a book on this chakra, but I’m deliberately keeping it simple.
A well-functioning Third Eye is a rare thing, as the amount of fluoride stuffed into drinking water and toothpaste and many other products takes a lot of their sharp edge away. If you feel lucky, enjoy many syncs or odd ghostly occurrences, weird insights and ESP, your Third Eye is doing well.

The Crown Chakra is little more than a portal by which universal energy enters the body, and leads to a place where we all connect on a higher level to each other, and the Universe in general. If yours functions properly, you’ll feel “in tune”. A broken Crown Chakra will make you feel bereft, cut off, forgotten and can trigger an existential crisis.

There are other Chakras that play lesser roles in our energetic makeup. They tend to be more generalized in function and so can take up slack from each other as required.

The Living Mother Earth

22. June 2012 category Uncategorized

Mother Earth – A living, breathing, conscious entity

Many people feel cut off from the natural world, due in part to the demands of their busy, noisy lives. Without adequate “time out” in a natural setting, they end up feeling mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally depleted, lacking focus and suffering from an increasing number of minor ailments. We are so reliant on electricity that electromagnetic pollution is a growing problem. This constantly fizzing, energy (along with the never-ending stream of techno-babble entertainment, opinions,  music, advertising and television that the masses seem to need as a salve to the crushing burden of independent thought) is draining to both the physical body and the psyche.

Humans *need* a connection to living energy. Living energy recharges the spirit and powers creativity. It feels very different from the artificial energies which power our civilization.. these are rigid and uncompromising, prodding and demanding, whilst living energy grows, flows and empowers and allows.

Native cultures recognized Mother Earth as the living spirit she is, and treated her with the love and honor she deserves. Their deep respect for everything she provides; life, food, tools, shelter and so on, is something the modern world needs to cultivate. It’s no secret that you receive back that which you give out to the world; with disregard for life and a throwaway mentality endemic in mainstream culture it’s no wonder people feel their lives are meaningless and lack intrinsic value.

“Green” causes are gaining momentum and there is much more awareness of the environment, sustainability and the need to live in a way that’s more harmonious with nature. There’s a lot of anthropomorphizing going on, but few people seem to really get that “Mother Earth” is far more than an idea or concept, She is a planet-sized being with an immensely strong bio-energy field of nurturing, healing, comforting and cleansing energy, and a patient, loving spirit. The entire ecosystem is intricately complex, and in it’s entirety is sentient and intelligent. What we can only glimpse of our place in the world can be seen from beginning to end from Mother Earth’s lofty vantage point. She knows and understands you better than anyone else. She sees the futility of deadlines, and will happily remind you of Her take on everything we try to force: that it will all be as it should be, life is a process and change is inevitable.

Feeling Mother Earths Energy
It’s possible to tap into the flow of Mother Earth’s energy consciously in the same way we share energy with others during a hug; when you can’t get out in to nature and feel her directly, this is the next best thing. To connect with her, reach out with heart chakra and base chakra energies down through your legs and feet and feel it hook up to the ground. Breathe in deeply, and as you exhale, ask Mother Earth to fill you with her life force. At the same time, send her heart energy.. she always feels kinda sad to me, at least in part, and she really likes when her children show they care about her as more than a provider.

Mother Earth’s energy gives an instant sense of peace and a feeling of time suspended which provides instant relief from feelings of sensory overload or mental overwhelm. Her supportive and empowering spirit helps renew your energy and restore physical well-being. Her spirit of unconditional love soothes emotional wounds, and her timelessness gives a much needed sense of space and clarity in which we can find answers.

Connecting with Mother Earth gives a huge spiritual boost by reminding you that you’re part of something greater. She helps you to see beyond upset, problems and worry by reminding you that you are part of her ecosystem and that on her timescale, all things change and grow, die and are reborn. All the world is her proving ground..roll with the blows and show her the perfection of your design, it’s guaranteed she’ll reward your tenacity.
