Experiences with Nonlinear Time and the Multiverse

Several months ago Gehenna and I heard something from our guidance along the lines of “time will be getting weird.” Call me nutty (and you’d be right), but my first thought was “sounds like fun.” I’ve been fascinated with the prospect of exploring the subject of nonlinear time ever since I stumbled on the idea that the usual, linear and cyclical way that we experience time, is not the only possible way.

I have had periodic experiences that seem to hint at the nonlinear nature of time, as well as the “multiple worlds” (and by extension, alternate selves) theory, as far back as 1997. There have been quite a few instances where people have had some sense of my presence, or even heard my voice when I was physically somewhere else, even if close by.

In high school I gained a reputation for often being silent and ninja-like, which I thought was fun to play with at the time (and still do, though I’m not nearly as much of an arse about it now) which got me the nickname “the phantom.” I had been hanging out with three friends at one of their houses one afternoon but had a falling out with one of them, and after some deliberation, decided to disappear to see what another friend was up to across the neighborhood. The next day, all three people who had been at the first house insisted that I had stayed the whole time (while the fourth friend agreed that I had been with him during that time). Of course, at the time none of us knew what to make of it, and I mostly wanted to drop the subject, not wanting to argue about something when I didn’t even know what to think myself.

Since then, there have been many times with Gehenna especially, where she has felt my presence, heard my voice or both, coming from somewhere other than where I actually was at the time. It’s not uncommon for example for me to be debating heading upstairs, ultimately decide to stay downstairs, and her to get some sense of me having gone up after all.

The other most common type of event has to do with differing memories between individuals for the same period. Granted, human memory is fallible, but the events I’m thinking of all come with the same prod that says “pay attention, something important is happening” that I get with synchronicity and other fun reality-blips. A common thread has been that the event in question is too recent for memory to degrade that quickly, and too mundane for either party to have a vested interest in changing the details – and yet the details are so drastically different that it leaves one with a sense of “did we really witness the same set of events? Are you really the same person I was there with at the time?” Are they, indeed…

Speaking of which, the rise of sites like Facebook, with their tendency to put us back in touch with people we haven’t heard from in years, has seemed to generate some similar phenomena as well. There have been a few instances of completely irreconcilable memories upon comparing notes, but beyond that, certain people seem very different – not just in the sense that people change over time, but fundamentally different in some way that’s hard to describe, which gives the distinct sense that the person I remember and the one I’ve gotten back in touch with may not be from the same continuity.

Time Gets Weird

A few weeks after being given the “heads up” by our nonphysical friends, and just as I had the sense that significant shifting was indeed happening on various planes, a friend sent me a web comic done with photos of people in costumes, featuring the Norse god Thor battling the Greek god Chronos. This struck me as oddly synchronistic that these two in particular were paired together, being from different pantheons, and considering the symbolism involved, as well as the timing. In Norse mythology Thor’s arch nemesis is the world serpent. This is of course a representation of cyclical time in many traditions, though I have not specifically seen much made of this association in any commentary on the Norse myths that I’ve come across. To me the symbolism has always seemed to clearly refer to the breaking of a cycle and the instituting of a new way to relate to time. Chronos is of course a personification of a linear way of ordering and experiencing time.

Within a week or so after this and other time-related synchronicity, Gehenna and I had a series of interesting experiences. She experienced several “time wobbles,” meaning that the clock went backward and then forward again by several minutes when she’d look back at it; one of these events was witnessed by both of us once we started paying closer attention.

Until those began happening I had always remained at least somewhat skeptical about all these experiences; many were ambiguous, or could be explained in some other way without resorting to actual time fluctuations or alternate timelines.

One morning in mid-February I was sitting in our living room when Gehenna came down the stairs, put her boots on, finished getting ready, we said goodbye to each other and she left to run some errands. About five minutes later I went upstairs for something, when I felt a very strong intuitive prod to go in the bedroom. “No, really, you should check this out.” So I do – and there’s Gehenna, getting ready to go out.

A few days later there was a similar event, where I heard her come home twice within about ten minutes, though according to her she had only been out once. I heard her come in, close our very loud heavy door, go up the stairs which also creak loudly… and then several minutes later, I hear the same process repeat without her having come back down in between, which I also would’ve heard.

Luckily Gehenna is someone I can tell these things and we can both appreciate the nuttiness, have fun with it and go “ooooh,” without her calling the men in white coats to cart me off. :P But what do these experiences say about the nature of reality, and what may be possible to experience and achieve within it?

In my next post I’ll explore why these sorts of experiences are important, as well as the implications of moving away from the linear, materialist universe worldview, and on toward a nonlinear, multidimensional mode of awareness.

Redeeming the Woman in Red

“Were you listening to me Neo, or were you looking at the woman in the red dress?”

Most of my readers will likely be familiar with this scene from the Matrix. Neo is being given a lesson on the nature of reality, and is distracted by a beautiful woman in red. When he turns to look at her again, there is an Agent with a gun inches from his head.

This idea of “woman as deadly distraction” for the male spiritual seeker (or indeed, anybody who grew up near LA), has a long history. A few months ago however, I recognized that she was a symbol of some important archetypes, and began connecting and dialoging with the image of the woman from the Matrix as a handy symbol of the integration work I was doing at the time.

Archetypally speaking, this woman is simply one potential expression of the Feminine, or Anima; whether she acts as a threat or not depends on how the individual relates to what she represents. Working with “her” via internal dialogue and making use of the image, I re-aligned my relation to the archetypes so that what she represents could manifest in my life, not as an obstacle, but as an ally.

Being dressed in red she relates to the root chakra, which covers the areas of sexuality (which broadly includes all forms of creative potential) as well as sensuality, foundations, and our relationship with the material world. This specific manifestation of the Anima also has a lot to do with fun, pleasure, “the finer things in life.” While she has often been portrayed as devious and predatory, this is a projection upon an archetype that has the potential to be a lot of things – my impression from my connecting was that she’s rather tired of that role, and would prefer to embody the harmless uninhibited playfulness for the sake of itself that most of us could use more of in our lives, and mutual exploration rather than selfish gratification at another’s expense. In any case, whether those things are a distraction, or something we can reward ourselves with, keep life fun and improve our morale and motivation, is up to the individual.

In the Matrix movie, Neo’s distraction would’ve gotten him killed had it not been a simulation, and the woman also represents the same things that Cypher, playing the Judas figure, sells himself and his former allies out to gain. But does it necessarily have to play out this way? Are the things she represents inherently false?

“Not in my universe” and “only as false as your own root chakra,” respectively. ;)

Ironically, being led to believe that this figure is an enemy seems to be one of the ways we have been sabotaged, forcing us to struggle in the material world (and thus have less energy and resources to devote to things like spiritual and creative pursuits) rather than manifesting what we need easily and having more resources to devote to raising everyone’s quality of life. Being part of the feminine aspect of the root chakra which is our energetic foundation, could she shift from representing an obstacle to our liberation, and become a teacher helping us to get there, with even those “carnal” aspects of ourselves integrated into wholeness with our “higher” functions? Well, I know I’d have an easier time paying attention to her than Lawrence Fishburne, but… :D

Isis Agrees

One of the notable experiences during my recent hiatus occurred after I’d just had a massive volume of unhealthy subconscious material cleared, and had a lot of fragments reintegrate in a short period. The Egyptian goddess Isis presented herself, and being mentally exhausted by this point, but having always had an affinity for all things Egyptian, I communicated something about as eloquent as “…err, hey, good to see ya; what can I do for you?” What I got back from her was a very adamant “I love you… but don’t ever do that again,” followed by a strong wave of emotion, from which of us I’m not sure, to emphasize the point.

The stream of intuitive impressions that followed indicated that the dismembering of Osiris, and subsequent scattering of his parts by Chaos (in the form of Set) is tied into many of the same themes I covered in my soul fragmentation series. Namely, we have all been convinced, deceived and coerced into engaging in excessive self-betrayal, abuse and punishment, which causes fragmentation (and then our fragmented aspects often take up the task of unconsciously punishing us further and on into future lives in the form of our Shadow Self). The way the Divine Masculine within ourselves (biological men and women alike) has often been convinced to hand over our sovereignty and capacity for self-direction, and “just be” or “go with the flow” of someone else’s direction, against our own nature, also mirrors the dethroning, murder and dismemberment of Osiris.

This is a major source of unnecessary suffering, and apparently the Divine Feminine is particularly unhappy about, and affected by it. The various forms of suffering, sacrifice, self-denial and relinquishing of personal power that we inflict on ourselves is not only unnecessary, but does real damage to the ideal order of things. Who or what started this cycle is debatable per my current understanding, but the part that is clear is that we’re the only ones individually and collectively, who can finish it.

I was shown that while I have largely overcome the hurdle of seeing various forms of overly excessive “self-discipline” and self-sacrifice as somehow virtuous, I still had to overcome the other side of it, which was many deep rooted patterns of denying myself pleasure, neglecting to deliberately devote some resources to treating myself well as often as I should, and often not even recognizing discomfort until it was relatively blatant or extreme. This came as a bit of a surprise, as at this point my personality is generally laid back and doesn’t take much too seriously, and I’ve come to value the very things being emphasized – but I was shown how this was a layer of “strata” covering lifetimes worth of ultra self-regimented, self-denying hard-assery that was still having an influence in many areas, both subtle, and not so much, once it was pointed out. At that point there wasn’t much to say other than “I’m on it, and any available help in untangling and cleaning up my part in this whole mess is much appreciated as always.”

Life was never meant to be about suffering and struggle. Valuing things like wealth, beauty and pleasure in all their forms is not synonymous with irresponsibility or immorality, and not mutually exclusive with a healthy balance of spirituality, conscious moderation, social conscience and personal responsibility. These are all tools for having experiences which, like any other, can be properly used or abused.

The character in the Matrix who created the woman in red is quoted as saying “ To deny our own impulses is to deny the very thing that makes us human.” Based on what I have seen I would have to say the guy’s got a point. Life was meant to be enjoyed, and not just by cutting ourselves off from the part of ourselves that gives a shit, and calling the result “enlightenment.” While we should not be ruled by our impulses and unable to say “no,” being ruled by the inability to say “yes” is not much better. Wholeness is not achieved by abdicating one’s own nature or individual sovereignty in hope of escaping it. Our desires and potential are not to be repressed or released, but explored and experienced. This is not only our birthright, but our responsibility.

Soon after posting yesterday on my theory and experimentation with the principle of “gravity,” I went to bed and had a dream that poignantly tied together the theme of this one with a blatant demonstration of the other. I’ll pick it up there in my next post.

It's Okay to Feel Bad!

With so many spiritual websites out there emphasising positivity, it is no wonder so many of us feel like we have failed at life when we wake up feeling less than love-and-light-y.

For those practising the “Law of Attraction” there are dire warnings against negativity, and thus manifesting what you do not want.

Of course, feeling good is important ..but for it’s own sake first and foremost. Changing your life circumstances is the long-term goal, but it should be remembered that happiness comes from within.. your circumstances are the symptom, not the cure.

In my experience, it doesn’t help to plaster on a smiley face and repress your problems.. they are still playing out internally and causing you pain.

Crappy emotions are a sign something is wrong, much like pain indicates an injury to your body. As you would salve your wounds, so you need to address the issues which are causing you emotional pain.

I find that giving the negative emotions a voice; allowing them expression, is cathartic and doesn’t scupper your long-term goals of improving your vibration. To indulge the odd day of unhappiness is to release it from your experience. We are so afraid to be human, and we really shouldn’t be. To deny a part of ourselves only makes it more determined to show up, and play out in a way you have no say in.

If you wake up and feel overwhelmed by sadness, jealousy or anything else that makes you feel less than smiley, try one of these techniques:

Play some music which reflects the emotions you are experiencing.
Draw or doodle your thoughts.
Cry and scream, or punch pillows.

..but most of all, do not beat yourself up for being human!

By practising these techniques you’ll soon realise how much energy it takes to feel bad.. and you’ll learn that letting off steam regularly is healthier for you than bottling it up.

Raising your vibration isn’t about having an unbroken string of joyful and abundant days.. it’s about loving yourself, warts and all ;)

How to Heal a Dark Night of the Soul

Whatever religion, creed or path you follow, a “dark night of the soul” is inevitable. There is no such thing as an unshakeable belief. Life happens in all it’s glory.. the highest highs, and deepest lows, and sometimes when we turn to our higher power for answers, none are forthcoming. None that we like, anyway ;)

It may feel as though you have been abandoned in your time of need. You question everything, and you feel stupid for believing in something greater than yourself.

So, how can you re-ignite your faith when you feel so let down? There is no easy answer.. but here’s my 2 cents:

Think of yourself as the child, and your belief system as the parent. Now think on what “guidance” means.. and what it is not.

As a parent, I am tasked with guiding my children. I support them as they grow and learn, and I’m there to fix the bloody knees and runny noses. As they get older, I take a step back. I’ve given them the knowledge and tools to make their own way in life, and to fight their own battles. I’m still there to dispense love and comfort, and a offer a listening ear.

Sure, I could wave the magic mummy wand and step in to a playground disagreement, and in later years pay off the overdraft or have words with the mean scary boss.. and don’t those scenarios look ever more controlling and unhealthy?

To quote from the popular movie Deep Impact; God hears all prayers, even if the answer is sometimes “No”. Every parent says “no” to their child at some stage, for good reason. Material support might not be an option, but they can always offer emotional support.

As your creator, your higher power gave you life and free will. You were born to experience life, to grow, love, learn and achieve. Your higher help is still there, cheering you on through hard times, willing you to make it over the obstacles so that you can know the joy of a victory well-earned. Maybe you have shut out that voice in your anger and frustration?

Do not let hurt and pain blind you to all those times that your “parent” stepped in and gave you a helping hand. Life has many lessons, and the point of them isn’t often clear until some time later.

It is in our darkest hour that we need to use the faith, tools and lessons of easier times. Open your heart, mind and intuition ..in the midst of chaos you will find calm, strength, endurance ..and you will know that you are not alone.

Psychic Readings, New Prices

Hello, Gehenna here. I was giving a friend a pep talk earlier and realised that it applied to me too. So here is an explanation of why our prices have gone up..

We have been online doing what we do for TWO WHOLE YEARS now. If Beyond Within were a toddler, he’d be one who is walking with confidence and seeking to branch out into bigger projects. Probably chocolate smeared ones ;)

We kept our prices low at first to attract customers.. newbies don’t have the benefit of a reputation to get them work. Well, we are newbies no more and have worked with many clients, for whom we are exceedingly grateful. We worked hard to build our reputation, and thanks to word-of-mouth from repeat clients and friends we are becoming well-known. Thanks guys ;)

There are some pretty damn fine psychics out there that charge peppercorn rates.. however low prices often mean the service offered is misinterpreted by potential customers as “shit, low-quality and amateurish”.

I value my time. Performing the work I do is taking increasingly more of my day, which is fine with me.. but I put a *lot* of my energy into my work and it can be quite draining. The new price structure reflects this. Please read this post if you have any doubts at all about why you should pay for psychic services or energy work.

Read the FAQ!

I have nothing against religion. I count some pretty devout Christians, Pagans and Thelemites among my friends. I do however hold a beef against people who use their religion like a giant self-righteous hitting stick. If you are going to use Jesus/Pan/Crowley/Cthulhu or Zoroaster as your tag team partner please keep up-to-date with their latest developments ;)

We have a site FAQ. It isn’t there to look pretty. We try and answer as many of your questions as we can so that if you message for help, we aren’t spending our, and your, valuable time explaining who we are and what we stand for.
*I*, Gehenna, yes that’s G-E-H-E-N-N-A, really do not want to spend my work and email time explaining the 20+ years of pop culture and arcane religious references behind the name, that hold a deep enough meaning for me to use it as my online alias. It is there in a simplified form on the FAQ.

If you don’t like our vibe, then don’t read us and don’t buy from us. Simple. We debated long and had a drink or two.. hard about how we should represent ourselves on our site. Did we want to be businesslike? HELL no!

Who we are is important to us. Our testimonials often mention that we come across as people our clients can relate to. I am not willing to compromise my identity for the sake of a sale, nor will I spend hours of back-and-forthing explaining myself to people who cannot be bothered to understand their own religion.

I recently posted an unmoderated blog comment denouncing us as clowns and scammers (written by someone perturbed by my choice of name) on my personal facebook page.

Here are some responses:

SH–good response, not worth taking the time to explain the unexplainable to the ignorant and irrelevant…

SMcB–A lot of people miss the one, main positive of the meaning of Gehenna – Gehenna symbolizes the process of PURIFICATION through fire (whether that be energetic fire, violet flame, etc) People like him just google the word and pick the first few descriptions without actually taking the time to read and understand.

Me-^this. And They also miss the AD&D stuff

SMcB–Hell yeah! Or should I say Gehenna yeah LOL – You can find a few sources for this if you google Gehenna and Purification but there will always be some dork who blocks out the rest and goes straight for for the “hell and damnation” meaning.

One example is the story of TOPHET AND MOLECH IN HINNOM “During the twelve-month period in Gehenna, the soul goes through a process of purification and atonement”

LtG–He probably knows SO little about his own religion that he doesn’t realize gehenna is a REAL place outside Jerusalem and there IS NO HELL. Jews don’t acknowledge one, nor do they acknowledge any devil character.

LW–evil in who’s eyes huh? Lack of understanding ANYTHING is the biggest problem in this world. Too many morons, who know NOTHING with far too much to say on things they will never understand.

………………………………………….

It should be noted that although this person has never bought any of services they would advise you “not to buy from these clowns or you’ll live to regret it“. Consider yourselves warned! *Leers scarily at you*

My advice to anyone curious about us would be to open your minds and leave your preconceptions at the door. Read our site. If you like us as people then it is highly likely we will be happy to work with you. If you feel that we are evil then please google for someone who will be better suited to meet your needs.

A name is just a name. After all, do you think xXxSexy-hot-babe69xXx is really a hot 21yr old?

For the record, I am female, which is pretty obvious if you read the “about us” page. Not “he” as our disgruntled reading-shy friend kept repeating.

*This has been a public service announcement and a free tutorial in using Google search.*

Is Older Material Still Relevant?

Palehorse and I were discussing some of his older writing while I was asking his opinion on what to link to in my latest article. I’d refered to a post from May of last year about the ego. Palehorse felt that it was out of date and “wrong” given his recent discoveries.

It’s a bit like reading your old diaries.. ever do that and cringe at what you wrote? Hell, I have, and then I’d ripped out the pages and disposed of them.. which is why I no longer keep a diary.

I put forward that life is a journey, as is getting to know oneself, and that our ideas form, grow and change with time and experience. While we may look back and think “oh shit, was I wrong!”, the experiences we had at that point may still help others who are at the same life stage. The older posts on our blog document events and discoveries that shaped us at that time. They are part of who we are and while maybe not quite in line with current thinking here at Beyond Within, they are a record of how we got where we are at today.

One cannot go from one to sixty without passing through two, three, four……fifty-eight, and fifty-nine. Or maybe you could, but you’d not understand the principle of acceleration.. a car journey would be a magical thing, but that made no sense to you. Self-improvement is like that.. you can’t wave a glittery wand (unless you are a Pop New-Ager) and have everything just go Zzzzap! ..You need to make sense of the process and the work you do.. else it isn’t conscious living is it? ;)

I’m confident our “old” material is still of value.. it is *experience*, and something that is best shared.

So, read through your diaries.. and don’t be embarrassed at the you from five years ago who believed in unicorns and the Great Cosmic Cash Machine. Look how far you have come, and appreciate the deep and rich understanding you have gained in that time, of yourself and the journey of life.

The Danger of Pop New Age Doormat Syndrome

Popular self-help guru Steve Pavlina often pops snippets of wisdom on his facebook page, which are often controversial ..but hey, if it touches a nerve, it’s made you think ..at least that is the idea right? Sadly “thinking” is a concept alien to some Seekers, as you’ll find out during the course of this rant blog.

This recent Steve-ism caught my eye: “Saying “I’m done with you” once can be more effective than having to say “I forgive you” a dozen more times.” This is something that I’m definitely with Steve on, and I have written often on ending abusive or other unhealthy relationships, and the importance of not become a martyr.

Forgiveness is a process that I see as meaning you will no longer pay the emotional price for the actions of another; you’ll no longer take responsibility for that person, and you accept the part you played in everything. In some cases it is easy to forgive and continue to enjoy that person’s role in your experience. Sometimes, taking responsibility means no longer allowing that person in your life.

Forgiving another either gives them a second chance, or enables them to continue their bad behaviour. After several kiss and make-ups, or gentleman’s handshakes, if you are still not seeing real change, ask yourself why. Are you forgiving or validating that person? This life is your journey, remember that.. and do not feel guilty for making a hard choice if it ultimately is the best way for you to grow. You are not here to carry anyone else through the entirety of their life.

As anyone on the meta-scene knows, there are “conscious” people… and then there are the “Enlightened” (insert sarcastic quote-y finger gesture). The conscious make an effort to live courageously; aware and responsible for their actions and their own lives and circumstances. Conscious living can be hard at times, as one has to face some pretty uncomfortable truths about oneself.

The “Enlightened”? Whew… in a nutshell, these are the holier-than-thou, sanctimonious, Tolle-fodder spewers. (Now say that ten times :D ) Original thought? Na-uh.. If it doesn’t come from someone who advocates ego-death, putting others before oneself, destroying one’s possessions and turning the proverbial cheek, they don’t wanna know. They parrot the whole “New Age Doormat” waffle like a mantra, as if love, light and blind trust will save their home, wife and kids from the machete-wielding robber/rapists that just broke down the door.

Here is a post I shared with friends after reading this reply on Steve’s “I’m done with you” thread:
……………………………………………………………………………………………..

“Some ponce-y glitter-monger: “Should we really throw someone out just because logic permits it? People can change. They might not really want to change their harmful actions now, but maybe in the future they will become more intelligent… For the time being we certainly don’t have to put effort into establishing a connection with those who hurt us, but if we actively get rid of them forever, aren’t we just telling the universe that things we also are capable of make us reject-able as people too? I propose that we trust everyone as much as we safely can. For some people this won’t be much, but I bet if we look hard enough there will always be some common ground. I don’t know about you, but for me I find that if I reject someone completely, I have to constantly justify it to myself and it still seems suboptimal. It also is a loss for me too because then I can no longer learn from the person I have rejected.”

Me:”ffs, what a twat. If you go to a buffet and you know caviare makes you shit runny green water, do you really need to keep tasting it to be “fair to the caviare” and “learn from it”, or do you go, no, I choose to not experience the caviare, bring me some fried mushroom :D

what a friggin idiot, fucking enlightened Doofus!”

..and now some replies from friends of mine:

“Totally agree with you..hope people don’t take his advice…particularly people in abusive relationships…it’s just dreadful.” -SF

“I bet he has guilt-wanks, srsly, it must be guilt, guilt all the time. fucking holy hell.”-Me again ;)

”New Age= let your demons fester and thrive in the silence of your denial, open yourself up to be completely trodden on (for experience of course), and only wear clothes you think Ashtar would approve of.”-SM

”That is just way wrong. Sometimes you get people in your life that are just so toxic that the only way to free yourself from their damaging energy and actions is to totally cut ties! This ignoramus is just enabling people who won’t let go off a bad relationship they NEED to get out of and away from.”-SMcB

“Fuck light workers, Im off to eat kittens with georgie.”-SM

…………………………………………………………………………..

This is a dangerous bit of advice to give to someone in a bad relationship. It encourages the guilt and lack of self-worth that they are already wrestling with, and it tells them they are wrong if they don’t say “enough”. The Pop-New-Age denial, pretence and martyrdom mindset is about glossing over and hiding real problems.. problems that can be fixed by living consciously. Facing your demons in cold, stark truth, allows you to grow, thrive and learn about yourself, far, far more than keeping an asshole around in the hope that they might change.

Your duty is to yourself, no other. You can only support someone while they do the work they need to do. Thinking you can change another is a fallacy of co-dependence. Right up there along with the thinking that sacrificing yourself makes you a better person and that you are somehow needed. I choose to be with someone who wants me and it is much nicer than being needed, I assure you ;)

The “Enlightened” have chosen a label that they try to make fit. It is somehow noble to be “Enlightened”, a paragon of virtue and goodness far, far removed from any sense of what it means to be human. They practise a “speak/hear/see no evil” mindset which is blind to reality. If your goal is to play your part in bringing a better world for everyone, then surely being in no doubt as to what needs changing would be a good idea? Ya think? Where do the “Enlightened” get these ostrich/masochist ideas from?

Why, that’d be Eckhart Tolle again.. he’s Oprah Winfrey’s “man of the hour”. His influence spreads like a horrible, horrible disease. He’s a peddler of the worst kind of crap I’ve had the misfortune to read.. oh yes, I’ve read his bunkum. It is just another religion that people run to for answers and instead of taking what works, and throwing out what does not (like we encourage you to do on this site), and understanding what they’ve read, they just spew out soundbites in the vain hope that fluff, glitter and whimpering spinelessness will solve their problems. “I’m good now!” cringe, cringe, “Universe give me $1,000,000!”

Killing the ego, in my mind, is as wrong as cutting off any well-functioning body part. It is just stupid. It makes a mockery of some really good New Age practices, and twists the original intent of a new age of love and peace into something that teaches us to be mindless automatons. The above quote from the enlightened doofus is the sort of stuff that is vomited verbatim from Tolle-followers.

The ego is the interface by which we experience life, and how we know what we want more of, and what we want less of. It’s how we express ourselves as people. Take away the ego and you lose wonderful diversity, and instead replace is with a block of tasteless, unremarkable plankton. Nice. If ego-death happens naturally as we shuffle off the mortal coil then what the HELL is to be achieved by murdering it now? Why not just… enjoy life?

Our very own Palehorse, and Mr Pavlina both have excellent blog posts on the subject of Ego, which make their arguments far more eloquently and completey than I ever could. Kudos guys! I’d also recommend a re-read of Palehorse’s excellent article “10 Reasons I’m not a Lightworker” which describes some of the bad side of being “good”.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m into love, freedom, wisdom and understanding.. just not at the expense of myself, or my family. I’ll help you, if you show willing to help yourself. Sure, we all need a hand up from time to time. We all need to to lean on someone. We all make mistakes and need the slate wiped clean. Just… know the difference between a problem to work together on and overcome, and something that is gonna be a never-ending thorn in your side.

Sometimes the best way to help other people is to let them go… and the best way to help yourself is to say “No.” You regain your personal power by taking the initiative to end an unhealthy relationship. By never being willing to cut anyone from your life you are handing your own power over to them. By being a slave to guilt, you do the same.

People come into our lives for a day, for a season, or for years. We can learn from their departure as much as from their presence. “What if?” Is a path that you’ll never be able to fully explore, and guilting yourself with it will drive you mad. Why live your life in a constant state of second-guessing and questioning your actions? Trust yourself! Maybe that lack of self-trust is reflected in the actions of others. As we say here at Beyond Within.. “Change yourself..change your world”! ;)

The common religious practice of releasing or repressing desires and attachments might make you feel more pious, and will probably take the edge off the desires, but it will also make you increasingly impotent when it comes to actually achieving and experiencing the things you love.

When we release desires, either via the usually recommended process of releasing attachments, or writing things off as unattainable for whatever reason, they don’t just evaporate like religion’s credibility in the face of critical thought. Aspects of ourselves with no such inhibition simply wander off — to fullfill the desire. The problem is that if your conscious self continues to reject and release the desire (or the concept of desire itself), these aspects capable of fulfilling them end up stranded, because you refuse to have them back. Often you’ve got a relatively simple self aspect, its existence based almost solely on a single desire, and thus not having much other context with which to direct itself. It ends up somewhere that it can fullfill the desire, but then has no way out of its self-generated nonphysical environment. Back at your conscious Self, you’ve got a situation where, after this process has repeated itself over time, the whole 1. loses power to achieve its desires, and 2. stops caring, but 3. ends up in a similar sort of limbo, having lost the ability to propel itself in any direction. Welcome to zombie-hood.

Once I figured all this out, I sent out a broadcast of my intent for all desire-based aspects of myself that I had ever rejected, to return, and felt some very empowering energetic effects over the course of the next few days. (I also had more experiential evidence of how disempowering some of the most widespread religious beliefs are; namely “desire = suffering,” or “desire = sinful”; pick yer poison). As of now I have a policy that all aspects of myself are expected to do what they love, in whatever form they’re best suited to, in alignment with my mission statement. If I have a desire that for whatever reason can’t be fulfilled in the physical at the time, I release it with the intent that it will be fulfilled somewhere on the astral, and return.

This has been very beneficial in a number of ways. The most immediate effect was that rather than carrying around a bunch of unconscious patterns and history that said most of my dreams and desires were infeasible and even “wrong,” I now had access to a large part of myself that had lots of experience and knowledge of how to go about fulfilling them, and “memories” of what they’re like to experience. Since taking up this practice my conscious mind does not feel the need to spend much time dwelling on desires, which removes any “suffering” component from the process without removing the desires themselves. Sometimes it is satisfying enough that they’ve been fulfilled nonphysically and there is no further want, though for the times when it’s something I actually do want to experience in the physical, it certainly fulfills the LOA rule of “feeling as if you have it now” if part of yourself already has. I’m finding that as the various aspects of my subconscious mind get used to experiencing the things they love freely, the effect trickles over and my success with the LOA increases in my daily life. I still have a ways to go before I would consider myself any sort of “expert,” but I have definitely seen enough to validate what I’m saying here, to be comfortable laying it out for my readers. Update pending the point at which I can write it from my epic Scottish castle. ;)

While many of the most commonly referenced factors for successful manifestation certainly seem relevant, in practice my biggest breakthroughs with the LOA have come as a result of working closely with my own subconscious mind and doing the integration work I have referenced throughout this series. Many people have trouble with manifestation, not because they’re not positive or grateful enough – but because their subconscious mind is a jumble of conflicting intentions, fears, beliefs and patterning that they may not even be able to percieve. I can say from experience that it is possible to be almost militantly positive and optimistic, and even feel great emotionally and energetically, but get no results, or even the opposite of the results you’re shooting for, because you’ve got subconscious aspects of yourself and others working against your intent.

The more we integrate and become aware of our full multidimensional Selves, the more pull we have when intending to swing probabilities in our favor. I view my subconscious mind somewhat like a highly efficient and cooperative team – I give it an objective, and ideally all aspects of myself point in the same direction to make it happen. This seems to work much like obtaining something I want in the physical world – start by assessing what resources are closest to hand that correspond with the goal, and then begin making connections and networking with others who might be able to provide assistance.

What happens when I turn a goal over to my subconscious mind seems to be much the same process. The first order of business is to get my energy, emotions and vibration aligned with my goal. After that, I send out aspects of myself which begin making connections and arrangements with any necessary parties between myself and my objective – except in a much faster, more efficient and versatile way. Aspects of our subconscious minds are coming, going and communicating with other minds all the time; the Law of Attraction is just one way of utilizing this mechanism deliberately.

This could account for what I’ve observed but not seen mentioned outright anywhere, which is that those who are best at manifestation almost invariably have great networking skills in practice. The subconscious mind tends to pick up the conscious mind’s habits, so if you’ve got a skill for maintaining a large network of people with a mutual willingness to help out, then chances are your subconscious mind is doing the same. Your subby just happens to transcend time and space, and have influence at the physical, nonphysical, energetic and quantum levels, to aid its efforts. All told, I would have to say at this point that manifestation could be summed up most succinctly as a process of networking.

This does not contradict many of the other factors that are said to influence one’s chances of successfully working with the Law of Attraction (one of our good friends has even written an excellent manual. ;) ). I find all the talk about “gratitude raising our vibration” to be a bit nebulous in the way it’s usually portrayed for instance – but it makes a lot of sense that it gets a better response, within and without, in the same way that it does in our normal interactions. This view also certainly allows for the input of “higher powers” and even the universe itself to pitch in. Conscious entities who are attracted to your energy and are willing and able to add their own “pull” to your efforts can choose to do so. Beyond that, there are good reasons to believe that “the universe” as a whole is not just a machine or a collection of “dead” matter – it is a field of consciousness that responds insofar as its parts are able.

As an aside, I realize many of my readers have experienced varying degrees of negative interference, and may have ended up as frustrated as I was by the effect this can have on one’s efforts to manifest desires. I can confirm that it is very possible for the process to be interfered with in ways that extend far beyond simply putting a damper on your mood, and thus your vibration. The process can be interfered with on various levels, with the effect of vetoing and even reversing one’s intent even if everything is done “right.” It doesn’t help that most sources on the Law of Attraction ignore this side of things entirely. A planned article will address methods I’ve developed to account for this.

That aside, if we combine all the usually stated aspects of using the Law of Attraction with the networking abilities of the mobile, multidimensional Soul, it becomes possible to account for the sought after experience of things “magically” falling into place, in the perfect way, in perfect time.

This post picks up the discussion on soul fragmentation with an exploration of some paranormal and metaphysical phenomena that it helps explain.

Some Negative Interference

While negative entities are generally understood to be non-physical beings who are not human and never were, from experience I can say that many (though not all) of the entities who fulfill the same role come from a human source. These entities originate from the Shadow side of living people – i.e. the parts of ourselves we are uncomfortable facing, and cannot or will not express. We all have darker aspects, usually parts of ourselves who have been hurt in some way, or feel that they have been, and want to hurt the offending party in return. I previously explained how negative interference can target these aspects, but there is another possibility – that these aspects become part of the negative interference capable of targetting ourselves and others from without. A third possibility is that external interference imposes destructive programming on part of the Self, which then goes on to cause difficulty for the the Self and others.

Most of us have some desire to be seen as “good people,” and most peoples’ definition of a good person comes from an external source – family, religion, society. Without exception, we also have parts of ourselves that don’t fit that mold, and embody the darker aspects of human nature. Unfortunately most people do not have a healthy way of dealing with these parts of themselves, and usually opt for ignoring, condemning, repressing or releasing them, which is what can cause them to turn destructive.

The milder of these aspects end up as our personality flaws, which have detrimental effects upon our relationships with ourselves and others. Sometimes though, the divide between how the dark aspect wants to express, relative to the needs of other aspects and the conscious ego trying to hold them all together, becomes too great for one mind, and there is a split. The dark aspect, turned loose from the moderating influence and physical limitations of the other parts of the self, goes its own way, free to act without restraint.

Over time, the difference between “human” and “nonhuman” can become blurred in such cases. Consumed by the issue that set it off to begin with, the aspect eventually loses all track of where it came from and even what the original issue was. Over time these aspects can lose touch with anything that most would consider recognizably human, and evolve into something that can be considered demonic. When viewed astrally, these entities may be humanoid, but twisted in some way, or otherwise in various stages of turning into something that appears only part human.

In one of the previous installments I recounted one of my own fragments that was able to interact and be perceived physically by others. Luckily said aspect was good natured, but this is not always the case. Another incident from the not so distant past serves to illustrate this.

As an adolescent and a teenager, I had a habit of being unwilling to show, and eventually feel, anger. Back then I took this as a sign of “advancement” and “maturity,” that there wasn’t really anything that could make me lose control; I could simply let it go and move on. As I learned more about managing and expressing emotions in a way that’s healthy for the self and others, as well as the mechanics of soul fragmentation however, it became increasingly apparent that I would eventually be reintroduced to a ball of raging fury that answered to my name – a collective part of myself made up of “released” grievances that was not only upset for a shopping list of reasons I have consciously long forgotten, but not being able to express itself consciously as well. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but knew that it would at some point become necessary, and so I prepared for the eventuality as well as I was able.

I had been doing extensive integration work, and otherwise broadcasting the intent for things that originated with me to return, but one thing I’ve learned is you can’t always be sure when this is actually going to happen. This one decided to return a few months ago… while walking through the mall. I felt it come over me as if a dark angry cloud had descended, and the suddenness of it threatened to overtake me completely. The volatile, “spiky” energy was intense to the point that the people I was there with felt it, which I wasn’t happy about. Given my estimate of how long this aspect has been away, I’m loathe to think what it was up to in the meantime, and wish I could apologize to anyone affected.

This would be a good example of why I advocate strength of mind, will and ego, because I put all three to good use that day to bring this aspect into consistency with the rest of myself, without allowing the rest of myself to be pulled in its direction. I could feel that it was my energy, and so I made the quick decision to let it into my space, while simultaneously doing my best to shield the people around me, and, y’know, not lose my effing mind in the middle of the mall. With a combination of mental negotiation with the returning aspect, asserting myself very firmly while also giving assurance that I have much healthier methods to deal with such things now, I did manage to calm it down and get it to fully reintegrate without much further trouble.

Gehenna and I have also had numerous experiences of having problems with aspects of other people behaving in ways similar to many negative entities, while the person they originated with most likely had no idea this was taking place. In one such instance, over the course of a few days we could feel that something was “off” energetically, and then a period where things began frequently going wrong in ways that got to be uncanny. Things would just suddenly stop working for no visible reason at a rate that was way too frequent to chalk up to the “Shit Happens” principle. When we looked into it, we got the strong sense of the energy signature of someone we had to disengage from for being codependent to the point of hurting others, to foster dependency upon themselves, among other reasons. This was an aspect of that person, trying to cause problems in our personal lives, and looping the thought “I’ll show them how much they need me!”

Since recognizing just how common this is, when I can feel a presence around myself that shouldn’t be, I have taken to forcefully demanding that it returns to its own creator as a first line of defense before trying anything else. I have found this to work often, and its convenient in that it requires no further effort or looking into what’s actually going on when it does. When dealing with these situations, I have found it important to send them off without judgment or malice toward the person in question, or giving them any further attention once I know they’ve gone. Reason being that it is highly likely that we are all the source of this phenomenon at one time or another, and the objective is to have the offending aspect leave and stay gone, not create further antagonism.

Organic Portals / Hylics

Organic portals, the more recent term for people the Gnostics referred to as “Hylics,” are people who are literally not playing with a full set – of chakras, that is. Historically, and more recently, these have been portrayed variously as people who are “empty,” heartless or soulless.

It is currently our position however, based on our own experience and observation, that the Organic Portal phenomenon applies to a wide range of possibilities where people are operating with some chakras and lacking others, in all possible combinations that are capable of sustaining a physical body. The “classic” organic portal is someone who is essentially made up of basic survival functions and ego; lacking in the capacity for empathy, meaningful connections with others and the divine, or any intrinsic sense of self. Indeed, the term “organic portal” was coined to refer to someone capable of being acted through, spoken through and generally maneuvered at will by sources of negative interference, for distracting and derailing an awakening soul. While the discussion of their existence is undeniably controversial, it is well outside the scope of this article to prove the existence of this condition. Others need to come to their own conclusions on this matter as I have; my aim here is to provide a potential explanation of how they exist.

Based on current knowledge of the mechanics of fragmentation, I understand the organic portal phenomenon to be something along the lines of a spiritual birth defect, much like a physical defect where some of one’s parts are damaged or missing. In fact, given my own experiences of various cognitive, spiritual and in some cases even physical functions either increasing or returning upon the integration of a wayward frag, I would say both situations might originate in similar ways.

I have already discussed how in many cases a fragment is unwilling or unable to return to the physical body while it’s still alive, leaving them in a state of limbo where they might remain for a very, very long time. However, based on the observable principle that “all is in motion,” I doubt that they would be able to “remain so for eternity” as Robert Monroe questioned.

In cases where there is not enough of the soul left in one piece to reincarnate, and thus take up the process of reintegrating its other parts, I speculate that the parts are eventually attracted back to each other one way or another, possibly with help and prodding from the multiverse, by a mechanism that could be considered magnetic. Soul fragments seem to be holographic in the sense that all parts contain at least some sort of “image” of the entirety of their Self of origin, and so enough of these parts may eventually come together into something capable of surviving physically which can then incarnate.

While it seems there are people who exist with all combinations of having, and lacking, various parts, including whole chakras, the classic organic portal is said to function entirely from the lower ones. This would be the base, navel, solar plexus and throat, while lacking in the brow, crown and heart areas. Thus they are “soulless” in the sense that there is no working connection to a Higher Self, and all the implications that involves.

What has struck me as I’ve been combining knowledge of religion, experience and observation of those who fit the description of a hylic, and soul fragmentation, is that the stereotypical OP is essentially the exact reverse of the most common religious ideal. What functions do the lower chakras handle? Will. Sex drive. Emotions. Passions. Desires. Material security. What does religion urge us to relinquish, surpress or otherwise regulate nearly across the board? Yep, see above so I don’t have to repeat myself.

With so many people holding the ideal of functioning solely with the “observer” aspect of the Self and wanting to “just be,” is it suprising that we’ve also got people who are completely unable to engage in meaningful self-observation, and are solely concerned with “doing” – i.e. singlemindedly advancing their material and security-related interests? With so many people fixated on love and oneness as the height of spirituality, (the experience of which can be achieved by operating from the brow, crown and heart exclusively) to the exclusion of will and personal sovereignty, is it all that surpising that we’ve also got sociopaths incapable of love, empathy and spiritual functions whose focus is only on themselves; a condition which modern psychology still has yet to find an explanation or cure for?

Could the pieces of today’s “enlightened masters” end up as tomorrow’s materialistic, pop-culture obsessed zombie horde?

I’ll leave that one for the reader to ponder while I move on to the next relevant subject.

For further reading on Organic Portals I recommend Montalk’s article, Spiritless Humans.

Poltergeists and Hauntings

Much of the phenomena that is commonly described as ghost sightings, hauntings and poltergeist activity bears a striking resemblance to things I have observed, experienced and confirmed as being caused by soul fragmentation. Reports of ghosts, poltergeists and other paranormal phenomena can be considered in terms of entities that exhibit varying degrees of ability to interact with the physical, as well as degrees of awareness and ability to act, and interact, coherently. Likewise for the nonphysical aspects of still living people, including myself, that I and others have had experiences with.

It has often been observed that poltergeist activity, i.e. a nonphysical presence that can interact with physical objects, centers around teenagers going through the emotional turmoil that is common to that age group. Their ability to interact with physical objects, as well as their apparent desire for attention, and anger in some cases, is consistent with an aspect that is, or was, associated with the base chakra of a person. Recall that when a soul frag splits off, it is often composed almost solely of the parts of the self that caused the split, which could well include chaotic emotions – while any inhibitions about expressing them without restraint are left behind with the body and conscious mind. This potentially leaves the fragment free to wreak havoc, and freak out its physical counterparts in the process.

In paranormal literature it’s common to find ghosts and apparitions who do not appear conscious, and are often seen repeating the same actions on every sighting, like a recording on loop. Likewise, in soul retrieval literature, it’s common to find pieces of the self, stuck in a nonphysical environment with very little awareness or mental coherency, “looping” in a similar fashion.

An explanation that has been offered for these seemingly non-sentient apparitions have been described as “recordings” from the past; imprints left on the EM field that we are sometimes able to see and hear in the present. While I think this is a good explanation, and EM fields definitely seem to be a major key into understanding a great deal of paranormal phenomena, I submit that this may be only a partial explanation in many cases.

If these seemingly non-sentient apparitions were only a recording, an energetic phenomenon with nothing but the image of the original person present, my hypothesis is that, subject to entropy, they should degrade over time. I have been told that some of them have been observed to do just that. But what about the ones that don’t? The oldest I have heard of are clear apparitions of Roman soldiers being seen and heard at various places here in England (which I kind of wish I had been there for, ancient history geek that I am!). Some two thousand years, and still goin’ strong.

The possibility I’m suggesting is that perhaps when people are strongly identified with their roles; in this case a sense of duty for instance, and the person who held the role is eventually forced to move on, it may be that the part of them who held it will remain indefinitely. This would mean that this “haunting” might consist of a sense of duty that has been split from its context, has no awareness of the passage of time or anything other than performing its role, until being reintegrated and given a new role by a future incarnation of the same soul.

I am open to further input on this, as my knowledge of the science involved is not terribly extensive and I have seen very few apparitions personally, but it’s definitely something I’ve considered within the context of my knowledge of soul fragmentation.

This piece has focused mainly on the darker side of this phenomenon, but soul fragmentation is not all ghosts and goblins. In the next installment we’ll pick it up with some of the functions of the mobile soul that add richness, a greater dynamic and even fun to our experience.
