Redeeming the Woman in Red

“Were you listening to me Neo, or were you looking at the woman in the red dress?”

Most of my readers will likely be familiar with this scene from the Matrix. Neo is being given a lesson on the nature of reality, and is distracted by a beautiful woman in red. When he turns to look at her again, there is an Agent with a gun inches from his head.

This idea of “woman as deadly distraction” for the male spiritual seeker (or indeed, anybody who grew up near LA), has a long history. A few months ago however, I recognized that she was a symbol of some important archetypes, and began connecting and dialoging with the image of the woman from the Matrix as a handy symbol of the integration work I was doing at the time.

Archetypally speaking, this woman is simply one potential expression of the Feminine, or Anima; whether she acts as a threat or not depends on how the individual relates to what she represents. Working with “her” via internal dialogue and making use of the image, I re-aligned my relation to the archetypes so that what she represents could manifest in my life, not as an obstacle, but as an ally.

Being dressed in red she relates to the root chakra, which covers the areas of sexuality (which broadly includes all forms of creative potential) as well as sensuality, foundations, and our relationship with the material world. This specific manifestation of the Anima also has a lot to do with fun, pleasure, “the finer things in life.” While she has often been portrayed as devious and predatory, this is a projection upon an archetype that has the potential to be a lot of things – my impression from my connecting was that she’s rather tired of that role, and would prefer to embody the harmless uninhibited playfulness for the sake of itself that most of us could use more of in our lives, and mutual exploration rather than selfish gratification at another’s expense. In any case, whether those things are a distraction, or something we can reward ourselves with, keep life fun and improve our morale and motivation, is up to the individual.

In the Matrix movie, Neo’s distraction would’ve gotten him killed had it not been a simulation, and the woman also represents the same things that Cypher, playing the Judas figure, sells himself and his former allies out to gain. But does it necessarily have to play out this way? Are the things she represents inherently false?

“Not in my universe” and “only as false as your own root chakra,” respectively. ;)

Ironically, being led to believe that this figure is an enemy seems to be one of the ways we have been sabotaged, forcing us to struggle in the material world (and thus have less energy and resources to devote to things like spiritual and creative pursuits) rather than manifesting what we need easily and having more resources to devote to raising everyone’s quality of life. Being part of the feminine aspect of the root chakra which is our energetic foundation, could she shift from representing an obstacle to our liberation, and become a teacher helping us to get there, with even those “carnal” aspects of ourselves integrated into wholeness with our “higher” functions? Well, I know I’d have an easier time paying attention to her than Lawrence Fishburne, but… :D

Isis Agrees

One of the notable experiences during my recent hiatus occurred after I’d just had a massive volume of unhealthy subconscious material cleared, and had a lot of fragments reintegrate in a short period. The Egyptian goddess Isis presented herself, and being mentally exhausted by this point, but having always had an affinity for all things Egyptian, I communicated something about as eloquent as “…err, hey, good to see ya; what can I do for you?” What I got back from her was a very adamant “I love you… but don’t ever do that again,” followed by a strong wave of emotion, from which of us I’m not sure, to emphasize the point.

The stream of intuitive impressions that followed indicated that the dismembering of Osiris, and subsequent scattering of his parts by Chaos (in the form of Set) is tied into many of the same themes I covered in my soul fragmentation series. Namely, we have all been convinced, deceived and coerced into engaging in excessive self-betrayal, abuse and punishment, which causes fragmentation (and then our fragmented aspects often take up the task of unconsciously punishing us further and on into future lives in the form of our Shadow Self). The way the Divine Masculine within ourselves (biological men and women alike) has often been convinced to hand over our sovereignty and capacity for self-direction, and “just be” or “go with the flow” of someone else’s direction, against our own nature, also mirrors the dethroning, murder and dismemberment of Osiris.

This is a major source of unnecessary suffering, and apparently the Divine Feminine is particularly unhappy about, and affected by it. The various forms of suffering, sacrifice, self-denial and relinquishing of personal power that we inflict on ourselves is not only unnecessary, but does real damage to the ideal order of things. Who or what started this cycle is debatable per my current understanding, but the part that is clear is that we’re the only ones individually and collectively, who can finish it.

I was shown that while I have largely overcome the hurdle of seeing various forms of overly excessive “self-discipline” and self-sacrifice as somehow virtuous, I still had to overcome the other side of it, which was many deep rooted patterns of denying myself pleasure, neglecting to deliberately devote some resources to treating myself well as often as I should, and often not even recognizing discomfort until it was relatively blatant or extreme. This came as a bit of a surprise, as at this point my personality is generally laid back and doesn’t take much too seriously, and I’ve come to value the very things being emphasized – but I was shown how this was a layer of “strata” covering lifetimes worth of ultra self-regimented, self-denying hard-assery that was still having an influence in many areas, both subtle, and not so much, once it was pointed out. At that point there wasn’t much to say other than “I’m on it, and any available help in untangling and cleaning up my part in this whole mess is much appreciated as always.”

Life was never meant to be about suffering and struggle. Valuing things like wealth, beauty and pleasure in all their forms is not synonymous with irresponsibility or immorality, and not mutually exclusive with a healthy balance of spirituality, conscious moderation, social conscience and personal responsibility. These are all tools for having experiences which, like any other, can be properly used or abused.

The character in the Matrix who created the woman in red is quoted as saying “ To deny our own impulses is to deny the very thing that makes us human.” Based on what I have seen I would have to say the guy’s got a point. Life was meant to be enjoyed, and not just by cutting ourselves off from the part of ourselves that gives a shit, and calling the result “enlightenment.” While we should not be ruled by our impulses and unable to say “no,” being ruled by the inability to say “yes” is not much better. Wholeness is not achieved by abdicating one’s own nature or individual sovereignty in hope of escaping it. Our desires and potential are not to be repressed or released, but explored and experienced. This is not only our birthright, but our responsibility.

Soon after posting yesterday on my theory and experimentation with the principle of “gravity,” I went to bed and had a dream that poignantly tied together the theme of this one with a blatant demonstration of the other. I’ll pick it up there in my next post.

How to Defy Gravity

…Okay, strapping toast to a cat might be one way, but pending a breakthrough in cat / toast-based propulsion, I’ve come up with another method. Stay with me here.

A friend was recently musing and made a comment along the lines of “why are flashbacks always about the disturbing, negative stuff?”

This got me thinking again on something I’ve wondered myself. Why is it that it’s so seemingly easy to “fall into” negativity, whereas a habitually positive mindset needs to be cultivated, enforced and maintained, often with great discipline? Why do the negative elements of our experience, and our memories, actively draw our attention, while keeping positive takes our deliberate focus and cultivation?

Dealing with persistent negative interference, or even habitually negative people really brings this issue to the forefront, especially if one is sensitive to energy or empathic. It is often noted that negative entities are much more coercive in their approach, whereas our allies more often wait to be called on and engaged, and otherwise use more subtle means of contact. It is thought that this is because one respects free will while the other doesn’t – though I believe that while this may often be the case, this phenomena also has a lot to do with the types of energy we’re dealing with, and their natural properties. While positive influences are simply present, to be found, engaged with, acted upon… or not; negative unhealthy influences seem to exert an active pull on our awareness, our energy, our vibrational state. In an un-disciplined mind, positivity takes effort to maintain – while worries appear seemingly on their own until we learn how to stop. Why is it that if all things are equal and force of will is not being applied, everything seems to default or degrade in the direction of the negative?

And what does any of this have to do with strapping toast to a cat?

After meditating and doing some inner work specifically on this question, the answer I found could be summed up in a word: gravity.

The word “gravity” has two relevant meanings – one can refer to the perceived seriousness of a situation; the other refers to the force of nature that draws one object to another. As is often the case with linguistics, the meanings and origins of words can provide clues about “the way things work” that are known by the collective unconscious, but are not made completely conscious until someone notices the connection. In this case: the same principle that keeps our feet on the ground, also exerts an active pull on our thoughts, energy and emotions.

Many energy-workers can verify that having a high volume of positive energy moving through your system will make you feel like you’re floating. In contrast, having a blob of negative energy or emotion in your gut can feel like something heavy, dense, almost physical, and like it’s pulling the rest of your energy toward itself. “Pulling” is the key word there – negative energy has something akin to a gravitational pull, which typically draws energy and awareness toward itself if equal or greater force is not applied to direct it somewhere else. It’s like comparing a cloud of helium to a ball of lead: the lead has a gravitational pull; the helium does not.

Additionally, the navel chakra, which is in charge of our emotional processing, and also stores a lot of our most emotional memories, is associated with water element, and does indeed behave a lot like a body of water; the material it contains share many of water’s obvious properties. Of course, water doesn’t “decide” where to flow – it is naturally drawn by gravity toward the lowest point unless energy is expended to direct it elsewhere. Likewise, this explains why the attention of an untrained mind is naturally drawn to its traumas, its worries and its current problems, rather than, say, being magnetically drawn to a bright new possible future.

Enough of the high school science refresher course though – what can we DO about this?

Sci-fi geekdom came through with an answer. Anti-grav technology is a permanent fixture in every sci-fi universe; I figured, why can’t it be in mine? Could I make this gravitational effect optional in my internal space with intent?

Houston, we have a solution.

After some experimentation, I was and am very pleased with the results. I meditated with the intent of programming my chakras with the concept that my energy, emotions and awareness are no longer subject to the force of gravity, and almost immediately started seeing the effects I was hoping for.

The “pull” effect from negative and unhealthy influences is greatly diminished, the more that my intent fully sinks into all aspects of my mind and system. The implication of this is that I can set my inner state where I want it and it will stay there, or even move higher on its own momentum, without having to continually put effort into keeping it there and be vigilant that it’s not slipping. I can choose the direction of my thoughts (and by extension, my direction in general) without a bunch of resistance from various sources exerting a drag in other directions not of my choosing.

Without having to specifically devote a constant amount of my energy and effort to “staying positive,” I’m finding that, notably, my creativity and ability to be productive is greatly increasing. With negative influence no longer distorting its content and expending its energy, my subconscious mind seems to have a sense of humor all its own; recently its taken to making up amusing Family Guy style cut-scenes, in response to things people say in conversation. In other words, I’m pretty sure I’ve also accidentally discovered the cure for boredom. :D

Also very much worth noting is the change in experiences with manifestation. Before now if I wanted to manifest a positive outcome, my intent would have to be constantly reinforced so that I wasn’t being pulled off track toward a less preferable outcome between setting the intent and seeing it play out, especially if there was a stretch of time between A and B. Even then, results were not consistent enough to be reliable. Now? I basically only have to define my intent and state how it’s going to play out, and it happens at a rate I’m increasingly coming to rely on.

In normal cases, the practice of “being positive” pits a negative pulling force that often has a mind of its own, against a positive one that feels good, but usually doesn’t actively draw anything to itself. With gravity neutralized, it’s simply a matter of choosing what feels good over what doesn’t. There’s a tough choice… and by “tough” I mean “almost too easy.”

A quick word of caution to those who plan on doing your own experimentation with this principle (and sending me feedback and entertaining stories!): obviously just as if you were going to be without gravity physically, you need to establish your own strong sense of direction and intent, so you don’t just float aimlessly, or worse, send your life circumstances hurtling around randomly with great force like a pinball. That sounds a bit disconcerting I figure, so I wouldn’t recommend it. It is still necessary to break habits such as negativity, worry, emotional drama and taking things too seriously – the difference is without the extra resistance, getting away from those, and anyone trying to maintain them, is a lot less like trying to leave the mafia. ;)

Is Personal Responsibility Absolute?

Greetings all! Our regular readers will have noticed that I (Palehorse) haven’t been around for a while. For the past few weeks I’ve gone through a period where old understanding has been rapidly blenderized, and new insights, awareness and experiences were coming fast and furious, to the point that if I had started writing an article, by the time I finished it the first half would’ve been obsolete. I went on hiatus for a while to address things and process my experiences and what it all means; even still, I’m mulling over various experiences for insights and tools that I can use for myself and share with our visitors. Obviously, this post marks my triumphant return; ’tis good to be back and writing again! :) Onward…

With the widespread dissemination of ideas such as the Law of Attraction and the idea that “you create your own reality,” it has become a popular belief that we are responsible for creating ALL of our experience. From who our parents are, to how and when we die, and every aspect of everything in between, it is claimed that if you got it, then you created it, no matter what.

Admittedly this is a more empowering belief than to simply think we’re drifting through life as victims at the mercy of forces well beyond our control, even if it can be difficult to accept responsibility for painful experiences. But is it true?

There was a time when I decided to believe it was; I basically made a decision to take up the concept of “personal responsibility” and stretch it as far as it would go, if it was shown that it was a productive way to operate. I held that everything that came into my sphere of experience was either created or attracted by me, and I was responsible for every part of it, basically to see how this would affect my experience in practice. After feeling like I took this idea to the limits of usefulness, I have been swinging back around to a much more moderate view.

I will say that for a time, it accomplished some of the things I needed it to. When I first started exploring various approaches to spirituality, I quickly began uncovering signs of longstanding, severe negative interference which, not particularly wanting to be uncovered, quickly became hostile and much more overtly problematic. Taking responsibility for my life, and getting creative about extending the concept into every area that was affected, became the way to bring all those areas of experience directly under the influence of my own will, thus pushing out various hostile and unhealthy influences, entities and people, that would otherwise be vying for control. This period also helped me to form and clarify my personal boundaries, as I figured that if I could take responsibility for something, define how I wanted it to play out, and have that part of my life noticeably change, then that something can likely be considered part of my personal sphere. I also gained a lot of useful new tools and insight from stretching this idea as far as it would go – for instance, since deliberately and explicitly taking responsibility for my health a few years ago, I have not been sick, and have actually been able to head off symptoms of “pre-sick” from turning into “actually sick,” sometimes simply by sending the intent through my body that it’s not happening.

Are We Creating Unconsciously?

To say that we’re “creating” unconsciously betrays a poor understanding of how the subconscious mind actually works. The subconscious mind is where most of our experience originates, though it seems more accurate to say we emanate unconsciously; creation, on the other hand, is an inherently conscious act. Emanation and personal responsibility are mutually exclusive in the same way that it doesn’t seem fitting to say we “create” our dreams until we learn to become lucid and begin directing the experience. Before then, both are simply made of the “stuff” reflecting from the psyche, which the individual didn’t put there and has little knowledge of how to work with until we think to deliberately begin sorting it out. Said stuff would’ve been birthing experiences from wherever it happened to reside; that place just happened to be your subconscious mind. ;) Once we begin taking responsibility for our emanations, only then does it start to becomes an act of creation.

The subconscious mind is made up of many aspects which come and go and can even get cut off from their conscious Self of origin. As I explained in the Soul Fragmentation series, subconscious aspects mostly run on autopilot, influenced by programmed beliefs and socialization we absorb from our upbringing, and whatever they happen to encounter and even fall under the control of while outside the influence of conscious awareness. The subconscious mind is not really capable of thinking critically and making choices – rather, it automatically makes connections and associations, and processes information; the interactions and energetic component of this process reflecting outward to form the basis of what we experience. What most people are emanating comes from a disorganized and contradictory jumble of absorbed influences and information, much of which can be negative, toxic or simply false. This conglomerate of influences does not think, plan or discriminate what would be healthy or desirable vs. not, when giving rise to our experiences – it simply reflects what it has onboard.

To make matters more complicated, the subconscious minds of individuals are networked with the Collective Unconscious, as well as each other. At this level, individuality seems to be much less differentiated in general, especially for the conscious mind if it were to try and trace all the origins of a given experience. Taking responsibility for what goes on at the subconscious level requires developing a working understanding of what’s actually going on there; otherwise “responsibility” becomes pretty much meaningless.

Interestingly, many of those who claim 100% responsibility for their experience are also anti-ego, which is often equated with the conscious mind. Y’know, the part of us capable of critical thinking, planning, troubleshooting, reasoning and evaluating why things happen the way they do so perhaps they can be made to happen in a preferable way? Or to make a long story short – the only part of ourselves capable of taking responsibility? Yep – if you manage to get rid of your ego, then no soup responsibility for you. You simply become part of the collection of influences, causes and effects with no “I” to organize or direct them, which the rest of us then have to take responsibility for if the artist formerly known as “you” should wander into our respective spheres. It could thus be said that the movement to be rid of ego can be rightly viewed as a collective ducking of responsibility.

At the end of it though – my personal guidance, as well as my intuition after piecing my experiences together, have repeatedly stated and shown that there were many things that have happened to me in this lifetime that were not chosen, planned, expected or wanted at any level of myself. While it is comforting to believe that our lives are planned by a benevolent sky council, and everyone follows the rules to ensure that we get exactly what we signed up for, this does not at all seem to be the case. In reality, while some people come in with a specific plan and a “backup team” behind the scenes to support its fulfillment, we share space with a vast diversity of people and entities, with many different agendas, and the same freedom to act on them that we have. With so many variables in play, some of them occasionally acting deliberately to change or block our plans, the idea of “taking responsibility” for literally every part of our experience is not realistic or advisable.

Toward a More Balanced View

While the concept of personal responsibility worked very well for pushing negative and undesired influences out of my sphere, I eventually noticed that I had taken it beyond the limits of its usefulness, as it was starting to push out positive influences as well. To figure out why that is, let’s take this belief to its logical conclusion.

Advocates of 100% responsibility often speak of life as if it were a dream; every person and event merely a reflection of some part of the Self. If this is true then it follows that if we can just figure out which part of the Self is reflecting which part of our experience, the actors can be rearranged at will just by rearranging the psyche. While this is often the case, it fails to account for the fact that at least some of the “actors” are conscious enough to be free free to write in their own part as they please at any point. (This can be true in night-time dreams as well, but that’s a subject for another post!)

The factors in our lives that we influence solely by doing things like changing our beliefs and attitude, work to shift those variables that were previously undecided and thus open to our influence, as well as people who have no particular interest in influencing those specific factors or were otherwise operating unconsciously in that area. This is all well and good at times, but would you want to live 100% of the time in a reality with nothing BUT sockpuppet dream characters who always acted according to our own beliefs and intentions? I sure wouldn’t, for a lot of reasons, starting with the fact that after a while it would just get boring, lonely and without meaningful challenge.

If your life had movie-credits, then 100% responsibility means putting your own name after every role, and every crew member. What do you think some of those free-thinking and acting contributors would have to say about that?

Therein lies the other major flaw I found in this theory. The longer I held it, the more I noticed the general flow of my life shifting in a direction where there was less happening at all, and the existing dynamic was increasingly negative, in spite of any positive beliefs or actions on my part. It was as if negative influences and people, those who don’t want their role known and have little use for responsibility, collectively said “whoa, he’s taking responsibility for my actions! Free-for-all time!” At one point I even had my boundaries flat-out steamrolled and was smacked around a bit by an entity that seemed to be wanting to prove that not only does one being’s idea of responsibility have little bearing on another’s will and ability to act, the implication that it does could be considered offensive in some circles. “Take responsibility for me, will ye! Harumph!” Point taken, lesson learned, and truth be told, I can kinda relate to that, heh.

On the other hand, those people I would actually want as co-contributors with some creative liberties in my experience; those who are responsible and I would consider as working toward personal sovereignty whether they’d put it in those terms or not, those who enjoy gifting myself and each other with fun surprises, began to give off a somewhat resentful vibe, and then became much less active and visible in my experience. Given the above, I can’t say I blame ‘em. It seems that on some level they were picking up on the fact that I had framed things in terms where I was taking responsibility for their contributions in my life – so they stopped contributing as much. Definitely not the effect I was shooting for, and so needless to say, a change in approach was needed.

As of now I still hold myself to a high standard of personal responsibility, but I expect the same of those I share space with; for those who can’t follow this basic rule I take responsibility for making sure our time sharing space is cut short enough to minimize liability. For most people I recommend focusing heavily on taking responsibility for your thoughts, words and actions; i.e., the parts of your experience that are easily recognized as originating directly with yourself, and likewise viewing other people as being ultimately responsible for theirs. For most of us, mastering those three things is more than enough to keep us busy. As for one’s manifested experience – personal responsibility gets a lot more fluid, or should, if it’s going to remain beneficial. That which I understand to some degree and can have some deliberate influence over, I take at least partial responsibility for. Taking responsibility for one’s beliefs and learning how to use beliefs as creative tools is useful, though I can say from experience that some “beliefs” and similar material that influence our experiences are buried very deep, may even be unrecognizable or unassociated to anything ever held consciously, come from a variety of sources, and taking responsibility without having discovered them will not change the influence they’re having. After a point it begins to look like claiming responsibility for everything going on in the depths of the ocean, when we know less about the ocean than we do the solar system. There is a learning curve, and a process of exploration involved.

Beyond that I find it more useful to fill in the gaps, not with absolute responsibility, but with positive intent, such as the intent that my experience is being co-created by myself and a variety of people, entities and influences who share enough of the same values to make creating together a mutually beneficial experience. Combine that with gratitude to those who contribute to fulfilling my intentions, and we’ve got a pretty good recipe for what could be considered a more diplomatic approach to manifestation.

The effects of this shift have been encouraging. It seems that a lot of negative people and influences are scared off and repelled by the prospect of having responsibility imposed on them for as long as they’re in my sphere. On the other hand, the sort of people and influences I’d actually welcome in my sphere, helping to create mutually beneficial experiences and increased options for all involved to express and explore, have noticeably gravitated back in my direction. Good deal, methinks!

First Experience with Orgone

Over a year ago, I mentioned in an article that I hadn’t had any personal experience with orgone in order to evaluate any of the claims made about it, and that it was something I planned on looking into eventually.

A few months ago, Lena of www.lenarocks.com got in touch and offered to send us some to play with. After spending some time with the pieces she sent us, there are two things I can confirm: Lena does indeed rock, and orgone does perform as claimed. As you can see from the image, not only are these used for energetic purposes; people get pretty artsy with ‘em, too. There were originally two more pieces than what’s pictured, but those have since found homes with two friends we thought would benefit.

What is Orgonite?

The short answer: it’s metal shavings and crystals mixed into hardened molded resin, which is claimed to convert negative energy (called “deadly orgone”) into positive, life-sustaining orgone energy.

For a longer explanation of the history, discovery, inventions and current developments on the orgone front, I would rather leave it to those who have already explained much better than I would by plugging some links, and have this post mostly stick to our own experiences with this material.

I did want to give kudos to the orgone gifting movement, which consists of people who make lots of orgonite, and send it to others, or leave it in areas that are in desperate need of an energetic boost. Given my own experiences with both negative interference, and now orgone, this is one of very few tactics I would personally condone as far as dealing with the influence of pervasive negative networks in a given region in a way that’s productive and sustainable.

Calling one common orgone item, used for gifting, a “Holy Hand Grenade” also gets a few thumbs up from me for the Python reference. :P

Our Experiences

The day I received our orgone shipment, I was having some instability issues with my base chakra. So, naturally, I took a piece out and sat on it while I worked to see if it would have any effects. :P It did indeed make rapid, noticeable improvements in the issues I was having, which was nice because it meant I didn’t have to take time out later for manual system repair. My chakras really like the stuff, and respond immediately when I put some in proximity.

As far as neg interference goes, orgone does seem to have the effect of transmuting negative energy. When placed against areas where there’s a lot of thick, tarry, negative-emotion-flavored energy I call “ick” that’s associated with the presence of neg entities as well as the usually unconscious negativity people often launch at each other, the negative energy dissipates quickly. As to whether it has a repellent effect on entities themselves, I assume so based on the above but can’t really say. A few weeks before the orgone got here, we seem to have entered a phase where we aren’t getting many, if any, invasive visits from uninvited critters… which is of course nice for us, but not so much for scientific purposes.

Gehenna has reported a number of positive effects from having the orgone around: increased mental clarity, being able to manage better on less sleep, bounce back quicker after being upset, enhanced dreams and third eye function.

Another item Lena sent us (pictured, top left) was later determined to be meant for amplifying one’s intent. This is a small canister with a mobius coil, wrapped around a quartz crystal, set in orgone, and attached to a battery. Lena had wanted to see if we could figure out what it was before telling us, and while we kind of half suspected what it was intended for, the energy coming off it was so nice we ended up going through most of a battery before finding out for sure. :P I feel the energy as being of a different quality than the orgonite; the orgonite is also more ambient, whereas the amplifier actively projects a field outward. I experience the energy as being very smooth, steady, and “warmer” in a way that isn’t actually associated with temperature, which is the best I can explain it. I’ve recently been doing some work to undo some things I found screwing with my ability to manifest my intentions, so I plan on doing some meditations with the amplifier once we get another battery for it. Will update if anything comes of this that makes for a good story; watch this space.

All in all Gehenna and I would say orgone is definitely a concept worth pursuing. We’re looking forward to working with it more ourselves, and making connections with others active in this community. Many thanks to Lena for making this post possible! :)

What Is Tarot?

Fate? Free Will? Fortune telling?

What IS Tarot? I’d say that depends on perspective. Someone new to Tarot would be forgiven for thinking it is about laying out the Querant’s entire life path from now, until death. That is, after all, how popular myth shows the caricatured “Gypsy Rose Lee” reader.. a grizzled, colourful hag with a magic window into your future, which is inescapable and has been written since before you were conceived.

So, do you believe you are a puppet, compelled to enact scenarios with no will of your own? I hope the answer is a vehement “No!” :)

One of the greatest gifts given to each of us at birth is Free Will. No matter what cards we are dealt, we are given the wonderful ability to work with them and create the life we want. Want to be a famous rock star? Learn guitar, take singing lessons and network. Put your energy and drive into making your dream a reality… hard work, yes; but the reward is worth it as you take to the stage feeling you were born to be adored!

So, back from the tangent, what IS Tarot??!

Tarot is a handy method for helping you make the right choices, the ones that will lead you where you want to be! Tarot alerts you to stumbling blocks along your way, it helps you recognise pivotal forks in the road and it assists you in decision making. Tarot can show you the most likely outcome of your actions. It can say “if you do this then you’ll likely end up here, but if you choose this option then you’ll stand the best chance of getting here”.

Tarot is an excellent way of getting an overview of a problem which you may be too embroiled in to remain objective in your dealings. It often shows the true motivation of all involved, and highlights character traits which affect the process.

On occasion, there are unavoidable or “fated” events that show up in a reading and these are indicated by the Major Arcana cards. That still doesn’t mean we are players on a cosmic chessboard. We always have Free Will and can choose how we move onwards from that defining event.

Tarot is that guidance we often wish for when we have no idea which way to turn. It’s brilliant for “advice” questions: “How can I find the love I seek?” “How can I feel more secure in my job?”, but not so good for yes/no questions. Do you want to be dependant on us any more than on a universal puppet master?

Don’t look on us Tarot readers as people to tell you what to do, but as guides to help you become empowered as you take control of your destiny. We won’t ever tell you what to do — but we’ll shine light on the twists and turns ahead of you. :)

As this series expanded a lot further than the originally intended two posts (oops), it became evident that the most fitting way to end it would be to provide some info on doing one’s own integration work. This posed a dilemma though. As you know if you’ve read through the rest of the series, integration work, while rewarding, is not without its dangers and difficulties. I do not claim to be an expert on soul retrieval, and have never received qualified Shamanic training (in this life anyway!), though in a sense most of my life has been a crash course of sorts. Nor would it be very responsible for me or anybody to try and provide said training in a blog post. It is my understanding though that by the time one is well integrated and knowledgeable enough that initiating retrieval is a possibility, not much further training is necessary.

That said, I strongly suspect that the coming years will see us “cleaning up our own mess” and having all things restored to their rightful place, affecting a “system reset” of sorts for all the planes on which we exist. For practical purposes this means that each soul reintegrates all of its own “stuff” – all the aspects of ourselves we have fragmented, released, relinquished, rejected, handed away and abdicated responsibility for, will be returning to us. Keeping in mind that I have done much of this work deliberately, and it has still been an often difficult, messy, painful, crazy-making process, it stands to reason that if it is going to be happening on a wide scale, it would be a good idea for information on this phenomenon to become more widespread. I’m not sure I want to know what it looks like when the better part of six billion people who have never been big fans of personal responsibility have a close encounter with their respective shadows all at once, but I strongly suspect that every individual doing their own inner work has a powerful effect on the energetic network of which we are all part.

With that understood this post is not to be taken as a manual for soul retrieval, but rather “this is how I did it,” and “these are the key factors I’ve identified that caused my own process to run much more smoothly than it otherwise might have.”

The first bit of advice should probably go without saying, but it is important to realize that you have a say in how this process plays out. One of my biggest pet peeves is that with potentially volatile spiritual processes like integration, as well as kundalini and awakening in general, all too often there’s a tendency to perceive ourselves as being at the mercy of forces we couldn’t possibly hope to understand, much less harness and work with in a spirit of cooperation. Even worse, there’s often a strong undercurrent (assuming it’s not said outright) that it’s “not our place” to have a say in how these processes play out.

Bullshit!

This is your awakening, your system, your integration process, and your best interest is what’s at stake – so take charge of it! Firmly stating your intent about how you want the process to go is a great way to do that. Gaining knowledge of what’s happening via research, asking for guidance from whatever higher help you feel an affinity for (your own Higher Self is always a safe bet), and following your own intuition are the best ways to start.

The first step toward accomplishing any goal is to set a strong, concise “mission statement” of your intent, and take stock of what tools you already have on hand to work toward it. In this case the goal is full reintegration – that all parts of your soul that originated with you will return to you, to form a harmonious Whole, in the smoothest possible way. I strongly recommend setting your intent to integrate your aspects from the easiest and most agreeable, to the least so. This ensures that you don’t suddenly have something dysfunctional or otherwise more substantial than your local Self return that hits like a cannonball, which, at worst, can shatter and further fragment the psyche. Reintegrating a large volume of aspects that weren’t all that dissonant or unfamiliar to begin with before moving onto the more difficult stuff, ensures that when aspects return that are dark and even potentially hostile, you’re already balanced, secure and substantial enough that this won’t be overwhelming.

Start With What You Have

I recommend starting out with integration work, not by seeking out fragmented aspects at all, but by starting with the aspects of yourself that are already on hand and most familiar. Starting out by balancing and integrating yourself as you stand right now has the dual benefits of giving you a solid foundation for successfully taking up the later stages of this work, and creates an environment that will attract many aspects of the Self back to reintegrate without otherwise having to seek them out at all.

In his seminal work, Initiation into Hermetics (aff.), Franz Bardon offers a technique for balancing the personality, called “Soul Mirroring,” which is a useful exercise in itself, regardless of whether one is interested in further pursuing his system of initiation. This involves spending a week (or more, if necessary) making two lists – one of all your shortcomings, faults, bad habits, self-sabotaging tendencies and so forth; the other list is of all your strengths. It is recommended that you be as detailed and specific as possible with this.

The next step is to find ways to turn the weaknesses into strengths, and integrate the entire set of traits into a unified whole. The technique I’ve gotten the most use out of is along the lines of what’s described in my article Internal Time Travel, where you interact with an aspect of yourself in meditation as if it was a separate person, allowing you to change the way it’s operating at the root. For each of the traits you’ve listed, I recommend spending some time identifying whether there is a faulty set of beliefs or assumptions at the root of the trait. Is there a fear that you can resolve? Are you being influenced by a past experience that is no longer relevant? Are you using your energy in a way that’s inefficient, destructive or otherwise not helping you? It can be pretty amazing how quickly even longstanding and seemingly deeply rooted issues can be completely transformed, simply by identifying the faulty programming that gave rise to it, and updating the aspect of the Self that holds it with a healthier outlook.

Don’t be surprised to find that aspects of yourself hold a wide range of beliefs and patterning that you don’t remember ever actually believing or operating with consciously, as well as things you did at one time but have long since abandoned in practice that are nonetheless still having a subconscious influence. It is not uncommon for aspects of the Self to be operating with programming we’ve simply absorbed from our environment even if we’ve never accepted, or in some cases, even rejected it consciously. In other cases, programming that seems to be completely out of left field and at odds with who we are in practice, can be imposed due to various forms of negative interference. While it is important to be thorough with this work, don’t get too hung up on following everything to where it came from, why, and understanding all the history and context. Aside of the fact that some things just plain don’t make logical sense where the subconscious mind is concerned, one can easily get lost in details, when in reality the goal is simply to identify and remove destructive programming, and usually only a minimum amount of background details are necessary to accomplish that.

In spite of the fact that you’ve done your detailed soul mirroring lists, it is common for areas of concern to keep coming into awareness long afterward that were not recognized as a problem (or even part of the Self) at the time of the original list. By definition, your Shadow consists of aspects that you’ve labelled “other” and projected outward; sometimes this projection is so complete that the aspect in question ends up completely alien to the way we view our self-concept. So, most likely they won’t all come out at once — but the initial Soul Mirroring exercise is a great way to get the ball rolling, give the subconscious mind the message that you intend to become aware of these aspects, and take a substantial chunk out of the ensuing work.

The Value of a Strong Ego

Cultivating a strong personality, conscious mind and sense of self, has been one of my biggest assets when taking on some of the more difficult situations that can come with integration work.

Imagine for a moment that you’ve got a collection of very dissonant, conflicted characters who are part of a group that is tasked with figuring out how to function as a unit. Not all the members are entirely functional; some are downright nutty. Others have their own agenda entirely. Still others are operating with some very strange ideas about “the way things are,” or should be. You’ve also got imposters who do not belong in the group, trying to pass themselves off as members, and other members returning in a state that, if left to their own devices, could shatter the entire project.

If you want to accomplish this objective, preferably without madness or bloodshed, you’re going to need a leader whose traits include strength, flexibility, understanding, patience, discernment and excellent critical thinking skills, who can lay down “how it’s going to be” and take no crap when the need arises.

The conscious mind is ideally suited to this role, I find – as it’s the role it generally occupies to begin with. The problem with the ego is not that it exists, as some traditions suggest – it’s that, like most other aspects of the Self, it is misaligned and not doing its job properly. Most egos are far too rigid, self-limiting and badly programmed to be able to act as the mediator I described above, but as I said in a past article, this is down to socialization rather than the mind being inherently “bad.”

By default, the mind is the part of the Self making it seem like there is only one self, rather than the rowdy bunch of competing interests described above. The conscious mind normally holds them all relatively stable even if not entirely at peace, and keeps the more volatile or otherwise socially unacceptable ones from gaining too much control over the central personality. Unfortunately the way the ego usually accomplishes this is with a rigid view of “the way things are and should be,” as well as various combinations of releasing, repressing or otherwise getting rid of aspects that are perceived as being too much trouble, as has been described throughout this series.

Needless to say I am not a fan of approaches to the ego that include denigrating it, failing to take its concerns seriously or observing it while holding the intent that it is a “silly monkey.” The chattering of the ego originates with the very subconscious aspects we’re trying to unify, and in many cases, denigrating them is what caused them to fragment in the first place. Get in the habit of observing this voice in a condescending fashion without addressing their concerns in some way, and what do you think happens when you’ve got an autonomous Shadow aspect that needs to be told forcefully to cease and desist so that it can release its programming and integrate? Yep: said aspect will say “you’re not the boss of me, monkey!” and deny the authority of your conscious mind in the same way that you have. At worst, if you’ve eroded your own authority to the extent that most religions encourage, a difficult aspect may decide “I’m running things now,” and you’ve got something approximating a case of possession on your hands.

After a time, the ego will generally behave in the way that its been treated. Treat it as a valuable part of the Whole that is expected to play a necessary role in this work just like all your other aspects, and hold it to the standard you expect of yourself, and it will rise to the occasion.

Make friends with your energy body

Bardon points out in his aforementioned book that the negative traits you list can be linked to one of the four elements (earth, water, fire, air). Those are in turn associated with the bottom four chakras, which he doesn’t state, but I have found to be useful information for doing this work. Usually the aspects of the Self that you interact with and integrate will be associated with one or more chakras. Thus working with and learning about your energy body, with an emphasis on the chakras, has the effects of creating a supportive environment that encourages aspects that have split from them to return, as well as strengthening the structures and pathways to safely accommodate them.

Working regularly with energy also increases your sensitivity, which will allow you to better discern “me” from “not me.” There are many entities that would love to convince you to let them “integrate” with your system, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. ;) Conversely, aspects of the Shadow side of the self might well behave much like your average negative entity, but that doesn’t mean they should be rejected, unless it is not possible to safely integrate without compromising the rest of you at the time. Once you are familiar with the feel of your own energy signature, you will be in a good position to succesfully identify aspects that originated with you, upon their return.

The energy work system I’ve started with, and still use, is Robert Bruces NEW. I recommend it highly for its effectiveness, ease of use, and emphasis on balanced energetic development. A full instruction manual can be found here.

Cultivate your Center

While one’s “center” will ultimately consist of the Higher Self and Kundalini, those two, and the other aspects of integration, can and do come into play for individuals in literally any order, and I’m not sure there’s any “best” order to recommend. As in my case, it’s very possible to do a lot of integration work (deliberately or not) before achieving a conscious connection with one’s Higher Self or raising Kundalini, but one should still have a sense of their own center to work with in the meantime.

When I started integrating fragmented aspects of myself that came back with all manner of beliefs, values and behavior, I soon recognized the need for a set of values to unite them all. Just because these aspects are relieved of toxic programming and willing to play nice, doesn’t mean they’re not still pulling in all directions. ;) So, to preserve coherency, sanity and a unified sense of direction, I began looking for a set of values that were specific enough to have the desired unifying effect, yet universally applicable. Deliberation and intuitive proddings led me to realize that part of one’s center and value system is already inbuilt and integral to the function of the chakras – it’s just that usually we’ve got all sorts of weird hangups and distorted beliefs about them that lead to poor understanding of what they actually are, and thus further internal discord.

My exploration of this subject led me to Power, Wisdom and Love as the three universal principles that are among the most basic building blocks of creation as well as our chakra systems, and thus a reliable combination to aid in the unifying of the soul. While I generally hesitate to impose values on others, I do hold that these three are the basis for all value systems, whether by affirmation or negation. When properly understood, our relation and expression of these three principles will be filtered through our major personality archetypes, and can be implemented and combined creatively, like an artist who has gained understanding and experience with his tools and is then able to use them fluidly, in a masterful display of self expression.

Get to Know Your Archetypes

One of my biggest breakthroughs in integration work came after reading the book Sacred Contracts (aff.) by Caroline Myss, and later doing a lot more study of Carl Jung’s take on the subject than I had previously. Myss puts forth the premise that we all have 12 major archetypes; four universal “survival archetypes,” common to all, as well as eight more that combine to give rise to your own personal essence.

After spending a while exploring that premise, I can vouch for the fact that it carries a lot of validity. While Myss’s book relates to the subject of identifying your “soul contract,” a concept I don’t have much use for, her ideas provided a good jumping-off point to work with my archetypes for the purpose of integration. Identifying and working consciously with the primary archetypes that are influencing your personality and coloring your experience carries many benefits, starting with gaining further understanding of the anatomy of your subconscious mind, as well as identifying aspects of yourself that are genuinely yours, as opposed to conditioning that has been imposed by external sources. Once I started experimenting, I found it surprisingly easy to dialogue with my archetypes mentally as if talking to a separate identity, and making visible lasting changes. In this way it is possible to identify what specific patterns they’re operating with, release them of destructive programming and patterns, and giving them new “marching orders” if need be.

Rather than viewing the subconscious mind as a mysterious, disorganized and potentially frightening mess of gawd-knows-what, this boils a big part of the task down to working with a group of twelve to get them to the point of consensus, so that there’s only one of you – which is really what integration is all about. I definitely have a few future articles planned on the subject of archetypes, so stay tuned for that.

Practice Unconditional Self Acceptance

The whole reason we have a Shadow side of the Self to begin with, is because we have rejected those parts of ourselves as “wrong,” or have allowed others to do so. Thus, unconditional self acceptance is vital to successful integration, and should be practiced with diligence and free of judgment. A good rule to go by is that there are no “wrong” parts of the Self – only parts aligned with crappy programming and faulty beliefs. If you go about this work for any length of time you will encounter aspects of yourself that express in ways that are twisted, disturbing, malicious and pretty much every other destructive pattern under the sun. As a rule, if you think about the things you condemn most strongly, it is safe to say that some forgotten part of yourself is out engaging in that very activity on autopilot as we speak. The sooner we all just accept that we’re all in the same boat in this regard, the sooner we can get on with it and clean up our own mess, as it were. The mistake here is to identify the programming with the aspect (and thus discard both) – the problem is the faulty programming; the soul-fragment is part of the Self with a role to fulfill. These roles vary, but broadly speaking, well aligned Shadow aspects are a source of dynamic and creativity. Thus, my approach to all such aspects is to relieve them of their destructive programming and give them something better to operate with if appropriate, at which point they generally “snap into place” as functional (if not very PC) facets of the whole.

While it’s decidedly unnerving and likely a bit intimidating to look forward to meeting up with Self-aspects that are a vibrational match for Hannibal Lecter, there are ways to make this easier on ourselves. My previously stated rule about holding the strong intention to integrate in the order that makes for the smoothest experience holds here. Doing it this way, the Self local to the physical body and conscious mind builds a strong foundation and an increasingly organized and formidable Whole, that can safely integrate increasingly substantial and possibly adversarial fragments without difficulty.

As an aside, I am NOT of the opinion that everything negative we might encounter originates as a projection of the mind. I would however be willing to state with near certainty that if you have experienced significant negative interference, then part of your unconscious Self is either allowing, inviting, actively participating, or of all the above. It is not unheard of for interference to be directly perpetrated by misaligned soul fragments, though I would say it’s probably more common that said fragments are “helped” by other things that are either opportunistic or have an agenda.

I have additionally experienced aspects I’ve already become aware of and re-aligned, having destructive programming re-imposed on them coercively via interference. This leads me to believe that all the disturbing stuff we find our Shadow operating with did not necessarily originate with ourselves – it may just as easily be imposed on an aspect that has drifted around the astral for any length of time, vulnerable to being reprogrammed at will by any entity with an interest in doing so. This is likely the cause of the phenomenon I pointed out in a previous article, where negative astral manifestations, viewed clairvoyantly, often appear as something humanoid in various stages of regressing into something visibly demonic. I point this out as yet another example of why one should remain nonjudgmental and objective toward any unpleasant aspects of the Self. It’s like having someone throw trash on your lawn and ride off into the sunset — it’s an irritating problem, but you don’t judge yourself for having a dirty lawn; there’s not much to do but clean it up. Once a fragment’s patterning has been recognized consciously, it’s nothing to identify with or feel guilty about regardless of where it originated; just get rid of the programming!

Thus concludes the Soul Fragmentation series. While I will be exploring many of the concepts I’ve covered much more in depth in the future, my aim here has been to provide a viable framework for understanding, as well as for taking up personal integration work in a way that is reasonably safe and balanced. The further I go, the more I’m convinced that there are fewer things more important or pressing than the integration of humanity. It is thus my hope that my contributions to the subject prove helpful, and I wish you all the best on your path.

Adding a New Dimension to Your Perception (Part 6)

As the title says, becoming aware of your multidimensional nature can add a whole new dimension to your perception… literally. The fact that aspects of the self can act, interact, gather information and bring it back to the conscious mind, accounts for much of what we consider extrasensory and intuitive phenomena, as well as various ways that people can connect with each other across time and space. As we perform the work of reintegration, it becomes evident that psychic abilities are not for “special” people — they are natural facets of the human experience, albeit ones that we have often been made to shut down and cut ourselves off from.

Clairvoyance and Clairaudience

I have previously described how, upon the return of a formerly disconnected fragment of myself, I usually get a “download” of that aspect’s memories. In the past this consisted of disjointed dreamlike memories and snips of impressions. As I have consciously arranged to make space within myself for these aspects to “dock” with though, I have been able to achieve increasingly substantial downloads which have contained identifiable information about the aspect in question, and its experiences while non-local and outside my awareness. During the last substantial download, I had deja-vu lasting about ten minutes – “memories” of the immediate future.

In light of these experiences it seems likely that mobile aspects of the self, as well as the nonlinear nature of time, provides a viable explanation for clairvoyant, clairaudient and intuitive phenomena. All that is really required is that a self-aspect travels a short distance up one’s timeline, witnesses a probable event, returns to the conscious mind’s frame of reference in the present, and the conscious mind is able to perceive the relevant information in some form. Depending on how refined one’s senses are, this can account for everything from a simple sense of “knowing” that later proves true, to a full on observation of an event that has yet to occur. Likewise, it also accounts for perception of events that occur in the present, but outside the normal range of one’s physical senses.

Multidimensional Relationships

The ways in which aspects of ourselves travel and connect with others seem to be limited only by our illusion that time and space are any obstacle to making meaningful, mutually verifiable connections. Astral projection is the most well known way to travel nonphysically, but a successful AP only entails the conscious mind getting in on the fun of what the usually unconscious aspects of the Self are up to on a fairly regular basis, with the effect that the travels are remembered. Shared dreams and conscious dreamwalking, the practice of deliberately appearing in someone else’s dreamscape, are another related possibility.

There is a lot of fun phenomena that could fall under the description of “pinging” friends and loved ones, with varying degrees of perception at both ends. If we can’t be with someone physically, we can project our awareness to where they are, and have this be perceived in some form by both parties. We can even send an aspect of ourselves out to prod someone we haven’t heard from in a while to get in touch, and if the willingness is there, and there’s nothing preventing it, there’s a good chance they will. All of this can be done consciously and deliberately, though whether you’re aware of it or not, aspects of ourselves and others, particularly those we are closely connected to, are always interacting. Becoming increasingly conscious of this interaction brings to light a whole new dynamic in our relationships, that would otherwise remain hidden, but no less influential. Understanding and observing how the subconscious mind works, locally and not, makes it increasingly difficult to believe in coincidence.

Developing the nonphysical senses along the lines of opening the flow of energy and information between the conscious mind and non-local aspects of the Self certainly warrants further exploration; this is something I plan on experimenting with much more extensively in the future. If anyone reading has been inspired by this information to do your own exploration, I’d certainly enjoy hearing about the fruit of your efforts! In the meantime, the next and final post in this series will focus on ways you can encourage and facilitate the reintegration of your own fragmented aspects.

The Law of Attraction and the Mobile Soul (Part 5)

The common religious practice of releasing or repressing desires and attachments might make you feel more pious, and will probably take the edge off the desires, but it will also make you increasingly impotent when it comes to actually achieving and experiencing the things you love.

When we release desires, either via the usually recommended process of releasing attachments, or writing things off as unattainable for whatever reason, they don’t just evaporate like religion’s credibility in the face of critical thought. Aspects of ourselves with no such inhibition simply wander off — to fullfill the desire. The problem is that if your conscious self continues to reject and release the desire (or the concept of desire itself), these aspects capable of fulfilling them end up stranded, because you refuse to have them back. Often you’ve got a relatively simple self aspect, its existence based almost solely on a single desire, and thus not having much other context with which to direct itself. It ends up somewhere that it can fullfill the desire, but then has no way out of its self-generated nonphysical environment. Back at your conscious Self, you’ve got a situation where, after this process has repeated itself over time, the whole 1. loses power to achieve its desires, and 2. stops caring, but 3. ends up in a similar sort of limbo, having lost the ability to propel itself in any direction. Welcome to zombie-hood.

Once I figured all this out, I sent out a broadcast of my intent for all desire-based aspects of myself that I had ever rejected, to return, and felt some very empowering energetic effects over the course of the next few days. (I also had more experiential evidence of how disempowering some of the most widespread religious beliefs are; namely “desire = suffering,” or “desire = sinful”; pick yer poison). As of now I have a policy that all aspects of myself are expected to do what they love, in whatever form they’re best suited to, in alignment with my mission statement. If I have a desire that for whatever reason can’t be fulfilled in the physical at the time, I release it with the intent that it will be fulfilled somewhere on the astral, and return.

This has been very beneficial in a number of ways. The most immediate effect was that rather than carrying around a bunch of unconscious patterns and history that said most of my dreams and desires were infeasible and even “wrong,” I now had access to a large part of myself that had lots of experience and knowledge of how to go about fulfilling them, and “memories” of what they’re like to experience. Since taking up this practice my conscious mind does not feel the need to spend much time dwelling on desires, which removes any “suffering” component from the process without removing the desires themselves. Sometimes it is satisfying enough that they’ve been fulfilled nonphysically and there is no further want, though for the times when it’s something I actually do want to experience in the physical, it certainly fulfills the LOA rule of “feeling as if you have it now” if part of yourself already has. I’m finding that as the various aspects of my subconscious mind get used to experiencing the things they love freely, the effect trickles over and my success with the LOA increases in my daily life. I still have a ways to go before I would consider myself any sort of “expert,” but I have definitely seen enough to validate what I’m saying here, to be comfortable laying it out for my readers. Update pending the point at which I can write it from my epic Scottish castle. ;)

While many of the most commonly referenced factors for successful manifestation certainly seem relevant, in practice my biggest breakthroughs with the LOA have come as a result of working closely with my own subconscious mind and doing the integration work I have referenced throughout this series. Many people have trouble with manifestation, not because they’re not positive or grateful enough – but because their subconscious mind is a jumble of conflicting intentions, fears, beliefs and patterning that they may not even be able to percieve. I can say from experience that it is possible to be almost militantly positive and optimistic, and even feel great emotionally and energetically, but get no results, or even the opposite of the results you’re shooting for, because you’ve got subconscious aspects of yourself and others working against your intent.

The more we integrate and become aware of our full multidimensional Selves, the more pull we have when intending to swing probabilities in our favor. I view my subconscious mind somewhat like a highly efficient and cooperative team – I give it an objective, and ideally all aspects of myself point in the same direction to make it happen. This seems to work much like obtaining something I want in the physical world – start by assessing what resources are closest to hand that correspond with the goal, and then begin making connections and networking with others who might be able to provide assistance.

What happens when I turn a goal over to my subconscious mind seems to be much the same process. The first order of business is to get my energy, emotions and vibration aligned with my goal. After that, I send out aspects of myself which begin making connections and arrangements with any necessary parties between myself and my objective – except in a much faster, more efficient and versatile way. Aspects of our subconscious minds are coming, going and communicating with other minds all the time; the Law of Attraction is just one way of utilizing this mechanism deliberately.

This could account for what I’ve observed but not seen mentioned outright anywhere, which is that those who are best at manifestation almost invariably have great networking skills in practice. The subconscious mind tends to pick up the conscious mind’s habits, so if you’ve got a skill for maintaining a large network of people with a mutual willingness to help out, then chances are your subconscious mind is doing the same. Your subby just happens to transcend time and space, and have influence at the physical, nonphysical, energetic and quantum levels, to aid its efforts. All told, I would have to say at this point that manifestation could be summed up most succinctly as a process of networking.

This does not contradict many of the other factors that are said to influence one’s chances of successfully working with the Law of Attraction (one of our good friends has even written an excellent manual. ;) ). I find all the talk about “gratitude raising our vibration” to be a bit nebulous in the way it’s usually portrayed for instance – but it makes a lot of sense that it gets a better response, within and without, in the same way that it does in our normal interactions. This view also certainly allows for the input of “higher powers” and even the universe itself to pitch in. Conscious entities who are attracted to your energy and are willing and able to add their own “pull” to your efforts can choose to do so. Beyond that, there are good reasons to believe that “the universe” as a whole is not just a machine or a collection of “dead” matter – it is a field of consciousness that responds insofar as its parts are able.

As an aside, I realize many of my readers have experienced varying degrees of negative interference, and may have ended up as frustrated as I was by the effect this can have on one’s efforts to manifest desires. I can confirm that it is very possible for the process to be interfered with in ways that extend far beyond simply putting a damper on your mood, and thus your vibration. The process can be interfered with on various levels, with the effect of vetoing and even reversing one’s intent even if everything is done “right.” It doesn’t help that most sources on the Law of Attraction ignore this side of things entirely. A planned article will address methods I’ve developed to account for this.

That aside, if we combine all the usually stated aspects of using the Law of Attraction with the networking abilities of the mobile, multidimensional Soul, it becomes possible to account for the sought after experience of things “magically” falling into place, in the perfect way, in perfect time.

Soul Fragmentation, Neg Interference and the Paranormal (Part 4)

4. Soul Fragmentation, Neg Interference and the Paranormal
5. The Law of Attraction and the Mobile Soul

7. Hints for Smoother Integration

This post picks up the discussion on soul fragmentation with an exploration of some paranormal and metaphysical phenomena that it helps explain.

Some Negative Interference

While negative entities are generally understood to be non-physical beings who are not human and never were, from experience I can say that many (though not all) of the entities who fulfill the same role come from a human source. These entities originate from the Shadow side of living people – i.e. the parts of ourselves we are uncomfortable facing, and cannot or will not express. We all have darker aspects, usually parts of ourselves who have been hurt in some way, or feel that they have been, and want to hurt the offending party in return. I previously explained how negative interference can target these aspects, but there is another possibility – that these aspects become part of the negative interference capable of targetting ourselves and others from without. A third possibility is that external interference imposes destructive programming on part of the Self, which then goes on to cause difficulty for the the Self and others.

Most of us have some desire to be seen as “good people,” and most peoples’ definition of a good person comes from an external source – family, religion, society. Without exception, we also have parts of ourselves that don’t fit that mold, and embody the darker aspects of human nature. Unfortunately most people do not have a healthy way of dealing with these parts of themselves, and usually opt for ignoring, condemning, repressing or releasing them, which is what can cause them to turn destructive.

The milder of these aspects end up as our personality flaws, which have detrimental effects upon our relationships with ourselves and others. Sometimes though, the divide between how the dark aspect wants to express, relative to the needs of other aspects and the conscious ego trying to hold them all together, becomes too great for one mind, and there is a split. The dark aspect, turned loose from the moderating influence and physical limitations of the other parts of the self, goes its own way, free to act without restraint.

Over time, the difference between “human” and “nonhuman” can become blurred in such cases. Consumed by the issue that set it off to begin with, the aspect eventually loses all track of where it came from and even what the original issue was. Over time these aspects can lose touch with anything that most would consider recognizably human, and evolve into something that can be considered demonic. When viewed astrally, these entities may be humanoid, but twisted in some way, or otherwise in various stages of turning into something that appears only part human.

In one of the previous installments I recounted one of my own fragments that was able to interact and be perceived physically by others. Luckily said aspect was good natured, but this is not always the case. Another incident from the not so distant past serves to illustrate this.

As an adolescent and a teenager, I had a habit of being unwilling to show, and eventually feel, anger. Back then I took this as a sign of “advancement” and “maturity,” that there wasn’t really anything that could make me lose control; I could simply let it go and move on. As I learned more about managing and expressing emotions in a way that’s healthy for the self and others, as well as the mechanics of soul fragmentation however, it became increasingly apparent that I would eventually be reintroduced to a ball of raging fury that answered to my name – a collective part of myself made up of “released” grievances that was not only upset for a shopping list of reasons I have consciously long forgotten, but not being able to express itself consciously as well. I wasn’t looking forward to it, but knew that it would at some point become necessary, and so I prepared for the eventuality as well as I was able.

I had been doing extensive integration work, and otherwise broadcasting the intent for things that originated with me to return, but one thing I’ve learned is you can’t always be sure when this is actually going to happen. This one decided to return a few months ago… while walking through the mall. I felt it come over me as if a dark angry cloud had descended, and the suddenness of it threatened to overtake me completely. The volatile, “spiky” energy was intense to the point that the people I was there with felt it, which I wasn’t happy about. Given my estimate of how long this aspect has been away, I’m loathe to think what it was up to in the meantime, and wish I could apologize to anyone affected.

This would be a good example of why I advocate strength of mind, will and ego, because I put all three to good use that day to bring this aspect into consistency with the rest of myself, without allowing the rest of myself to be pulled in its direction. I could feel that it was my energy, and so I made the quick decision to let it into my space, while simultaneously doing my best to shield the people around me, and, y’know, not lose my effing mind in the middle of the mall. With a combination of mental negotiation with the returning aspect, asserting myself very firmly while also giving assurance that I have much healthier methods to deal with such things now, I did manage to calm it down and get it to fully reintegrate without much further trouble.

Gehenna and I have also had numerous experiences of having problems with aspects of other people behaving in ways similar to many negative entities, while the person they originated with most likely had no idea this was taking place. In one such instance, over the course of a few days we could feel that something was “off” energetically, and then a period where things began frequently going wrong in ways that got to be uncanny. Things would just suddenly stop working for no visible reason at a rate that was way too frequent to chalk up to the “Shit Happens” principle. When we looked into it, we got the strong sense of the energy signature of someone we had to disengage from for being codependent to the point of hurting others, to foster dependency upon themselves, among other reasons. This was an aspect of that person, trying to cause problems in our personal lives, and looping the thought “I’ll show them how much they need me!”

Since recognizing just how common this is, when I can feel a presence around myself that shouldn’t be, I have taken to forcefully demanding that it returns to its own creator as a first line of defense before trying anything else. I have found this to work often, and its convenient in that it requires no further effort or looking into what’s actually going on when it does. When dealing with these situations, I have found it important to send them off without judgment or malice toward the person in question, or giving them any further attention once I know they’ve gone. Reason being that it is highly likely that we are all the source of this phenomenon at one time or another, and the objective is to have the offending aspect leave and stay gone, not create further antagonism.

Organic Portals / Hylics

Organic portals, the more recent term for people the Gnostics referred to as “Hylics,” are people who are literally not playing with a full set – of chakras, that is. Historically, and more recently, these have been portrayed variously as people who are “empty,” heartless or soulless.

It is currently our position however, based on our own experience and observation, that the Organic Portal phenomenon applies to a wide range of possibilities where people are operating with some chakras and lacking others, in all possible combinations that are capable of sustaining a physical body. The “classic” organic portal is someone who is essentially made up of basic survival functions and ego; lacking in the capacity for empathy, meaningful connections with others and the divine, or any intrinsic sense of self. Indeed, the term “organic portal” was coined to refer to someone capable of being acted through, spoken through and generally maneuvered at will by sources of negative interference, for distracting and derailing an awakening soul. While the discussion of their existence is undeniably controversial, it is well outside the scope of this article to prove the existence of this condition. Others need to come to their own conclusions on this matter as I have; my aim here is to provide a potential explanation of how they exist.

Based on current knowledge of the mechanics of fragmentation, I understand the organic portal phenomenon to be something along the lines of a spiritual birth defect, much like a physical defect where some of one’s parts are damaged or missing. In fact, given my own experiences of various cognitive, spiritual and in some cases even physical functions either increasing or returning upon the integration of a wayward frag, I would say both situations might originate in similar ways.

I have already discussed how in many cases a fragment is unwilling or unable to return to the physical body while it’s still alive, leaving them in a state of limbo where they might remain for a very, very long time. However, based on the observable principle that “all is in motion,” I doubt that they would be able to “remain so for eternity” as Robert Monroe questioned.

In cases where there is not enough of the soul left in one piece to reincarnate, and thus take up the process of reintegrating its other parts, I speculate that the parts are eventually attracted back to each other one way or another, possibly with help and prodding from the multiverse, by a mechanism that could be considered magnetic. Soul fragments seem to be holographic in the sense that all parts contain at least some sort of “image” of the entirety of their Self of origin, and so enough of these parts may eventually come together into something capable of surviving physically which can then incarnate.

While it seems there are people who exist with all combinations of having, and lacking, various parts, including whole chakras, the classic organic portal is said to function entirely from the lower ones. This would be the base, navel, solar plexus and throat, while lacking in the brow, crown and heart areas. Thus they are “soulless” in the sense that there is no working connection to a Higher Self, and all the implications that involves.

What has struck me as I’ve been combining knowledge of religion, experience and observation of those who fit the description of a hylic, and soul fragmentation, is that the stereotypical OP is essentially the exact reverse of the most common religious ideal. What functions do the lower chakras handle? Will. Sex drive. Emotions. Passions. Desires. Material security. What does religion urge us to relinquish, surpress or otherwise regulate nearly across the board? Yep, see above so I don’t have to repeat myself.

With so many people holding the ideal of functioning solely with the “observer” aspect of the Self and wanting to “just be,” is it suprising that we’ve also got people who are completely unable to engage in meaningful self-observation, and are solely concerned with “doing” – i.e. singlemindedly advancing their material and security-related interests? With so many people fixated on love and oneness as the height of spirituality, (the experience of which can be achieved by operating from the brow, crown and heart exclusively) to the exclusion of will and personal sovereignty, is it all that surpising that we’ve also got sociopaths incapable of love, empathy and spiritual functions whose focus is only on themselves; a condition which modern psychology still has yet to find an explanation or cure for?

Could the pieces of today’s “enlightened masters” end up as tomorrow’s materialistic, pop-culture obsessed zombie horde?

I’ll leave that one for the reader to ponder while I move on to the next relevant subject.

For further reading on Organic Portals I recommend Montalk’s article, Spiritless Humans.

Poltergeists and Hauntings

Much of the phenomena that is commonly described as ghost sightings, hauntings and poltergeist activity bears a striking resemblance to things I have observed, experienced and confirmed as being caused by soul fragmentation. Reports of ghosts, poltergeists and other paranormal phenomena can be considered in terms of entities that exhibit varying degrees of ability to interact with the physical, as well as degrees of awareness and ability to act, and interact, coherently. Likewise for the nonphysical aspects of still living people, including myself, that I and others have had experiences with.

It has often been observed that poltergeist activity, i.e. a nonphysical presence that can interact with physical objects, centers around teenagers going through the emotional turmoil that is common to that age group. Their ability to interact with physical objects, as well as their apparent desire for attention, and anger in some cases, is consistent with an aspect that is, or was, associated with the base chakra of a person. Recall that when a soul frag splits off, it is often composed almost solely of the parts of the self that caused the split, which could well include chaotic emotions – while any inhibitions about expressing them without restraint are left behind with the body and conscious mind. This potentially leaves the fragment free to wreak havoc, and freak out its physical counterparts in the process.

In paranormal literature it’s common to find ghosts and apparitions who do not appear conscious, and are often seen repeating the same actions on every sighting, like a recording on loop. Likewise, in soul retrieval literature, it’s common to find pieces of the self, stuck in a nonphysical environment with very little awareness or mental coherency, “looping” in a similar fashion.

An explanation that has been offered for these seemingly non-sentient apparitions have been described as “recordings” from the past; imprints left on the EM field that we are sometimes able to see and hear in the present. While I think this is a good explanation, and EM fields definitely seem to be a major key into understanding a great deal of paranormal phenomena, I submit that this may be only a partial explanation in many cases.

If these seemingly non-sentient apparitions were only a recording, an energetic phenomenon with nothing but the image of the original person present, my hypothesis is that, subject to entropy, they should degrade over time. I have been told that some of them have been observed to do just that. But what about the ones that don’t? The oldest I have heard of are clear apparitions of Roman soldiers being seen and heard at various places here in England (which I kind of wish I had been there for, ancient history geek that I am!). Some two thousand years, and still goin’ strong.

The possibility I’m suggesting is that perhaps when people are strongly identified with their roles; in this case a sense of duty for instance, and the person who held the role is eventually forced to move on, it may be that the part of them who held it will remain indefinitely. This would mean that this “haunting” might consist of a sense of duty that has been split from its context, has no awareness of the passage of time or anything other than performing its role, until being reintegrated and given a new role by a future incarnation of the same soul.

I am open to further input on this, as my knowledge of the science involved is not terribly extensive and I have seen very few apparitions personally, but it’s definitely something I’ve considered within the context of my knowledge of soul fragmentation.

This piece has focused mainly on the darker side of this phenomenon, but soul fragmentation is not all ghosts and goblins. In the next installment we’ll pick it up with some of the functions of the mobile soul that add richness, a greater dynamic and even fun to our experience.

Enlightenment and salvation are not all they’re cracked up to be, although the truth of the matter will crack you up. Literally. Let’s start putting it all together (and knocking it off with the crappy puns), shall we?

The various Shamanic traditions, and some mystery schools, are the only well established traditions I’ve yet seen that focus specifically on the full reintegration of the Self. For anyone who has seen the Simpsons movie, the scene where Homer has his “vision quest,” is pulled apart and reassembled with a new understanding, is surprisingly true to the theme that pops up across cultures worldwide. What is not very surprising, is the lengths that the major world religions have gone to in persecuting these traditions.

The goals of the most prominent religions, in contrast, are great at pulling you apart, but leave it at that, stopping far short of putting you back together again. At every turn we’re encouraged to hand away our natural power, and either discouraged or actively prevented from using what we’ve got left, while that too is regulated and eventually stripped from us.

The Stagnation of Salvation

The ideal of the three Abrahamic religions, Christianity, Judaism and Islam, is to gain divine favor, which is accomplished largely by following a set of rules. Even in versions of Christianity that are adamantly “faith-based” (as opposed to “works-based”) you still have to believe in the correct checklist of approved doctrines in order to be part of the club, thus the rule-following requirement simply becomes more mental than physical. Judaism and Islam go much further in being overtly rule-based, with religious laws to govern nearly every aspect of one’s daily life.

In all cases, the goal is to relinquish one’s individual will to the divine, and strip the Self of all its “sinful” aspects until you’re left with something capable of following the rules. You get to keep your identity as an individual, but your identity is required to conform to a specific set of criteria that a given sect’s interpretation of its holy book of choice, indicates that its version of God will approve of. Large parts of a human being in a state of wholeness are not well suited to following rules, and so when those parts naturally rebel against being repressed and regulated, we’re told that we are somehow defective and in need of redemption and divine mercy. We’re encouraged to engage in extensive self-betrayal in order to gain God’s approval — ejecting fragments of ourselves all along the way in the process.

In many cases the Abrahamic religions not only require that we reject large parts of ourselves, but also that we impose functions on other parts that they are not designed for. When I began exploring the function of my heart chakra (and thus love) for instance, I found that most religious definitions of love have very little to do with what the heart chakra actually does, and imposing any rules on its processes blocks its ability to properly function. I have already written of how, when I began working with my heart chakra, I found it encased in the energetic equivalent to a large superfortress that had it shut down almost entirely. In hindsight it is easy to see how adhering to the religious definition of love that I grew up with played a large part in forming this structure. It should also be pointed out that I grew up in a relatively moderate version of Christianity, and the beliefs and patterns that contributed to shutting down my heart chakra were not really all that extreme or unusual, relatively speaking.

The mainline strains of the Abrahamic religions have always had an uneasy relationship with their mystics – i.e. those who are more interested in experiencing the divine directly, than reading about it in books or coloring entirely inside the lines as they’ve been established. Historically, in order to remain breathing, mystics have been made to conform their experiences to a pre-existing paradigm that was established for reasons that were largely political, ensuring that much of the benefit of such experiences would, by definition, be lost. For everyone else, metaphysical pursuits have usually been discouraged with fear tactics, likely leading to widespread fragmentation and loss of genuine connections to the divine, and 3rd eye abilities among the faithful.

The most self-destructive feature of the Abrahamic religions may well be their repressive attitudes toward sex. It seems highly likely that the heavy regulation (and in many cases, elimination) of the natural human desire for sex is a massive source of fragmentation — and that’s even when they’re not literally amputating pieces of the male and female sexual anatomy, which would fit the bill for trauma-based fragmentation on top of the physical loss of function. Indeed, there is evidence to support this in the prominent literature on nonphysical exploration.

In Far Journeys (aff.) by Robert Monroe, one of the pioneers on the subject of OBEs in the west, he recounts one such experience. During an astral projection, he encountered an unimaginably massive mountain of writhing bodies, engaged in a frantic, yet futile, attempt at sexual satisfaction. He pulled out one of the participants and tried to communicate, even to the point of screaming in his face to get his attention. Seemingly oblivious to Monroe’s presence or even the fact that he was caught by the leg, the man’s sole focus was on scrambling back into the pile, which he did.

Monroe seems to speculate in the direction of a similar understanding to what’s reflected here, though he does not expand much before moving on.

“…Another emotion washed through me – intense compassion for those trapped in the undulating mass, so focused and intent on seeking sexual satisfaction they were unaware of any other existence – anger at a system that could so inhibit, repress and distort as to create the situation in front of me. Were these the castoffs of the human process, to remain so throughout eternity?” (p. 50)

I strongly suspect that the pile of bodies Monroe encountered were not “lost souls,” but rather, repressed sex drives. It stands to reason that trying to talk to a disembodied sex drive, or tell it to do something other than have sex, is indeed futile, because that’s what one’s sexual component does. Apart from the aspects of the Self responsible for communication, or indeed, anything other than having sex – that’s all it can do until it is reclaimed by the parts of itself that can balance it with the other traits and functions that make for a more dynamic and varied experience. To repress, regulate or distort the sex drive in any way other than that which is voluntarily chosen by the whole Self for its own reasons, as religion would have us do, is to remove an entire dynamic from the human experience – and possibly condemn that aspect of ourselves to engage in a futile and mindless quest for satisfaction until it is reclaimed. Given that the same energy that goes into literal sexual activities, is also a component in many other, non-sexual areas of the human experience, the damage to humanity’s overall capacity to live, experience and create, cannot be overstated.

The Inertia of Enlightenment

Buddhism, and popular Western proponents of its ideals such as Eckhart Tolle, take the fragmentation of the Self to its end. Enlightenment, or “Nirvana,” the Pali term, means “blowing out” – i.e., the extinguishing of one’s individual, divine spark. Through a process of relinquishing all of its parts, one experiences the Self as nonexistent, and this is claimed to be the highest state to which one can attain.

Buddha observed that everything in the physical world is subject to impermanence and entropy, and artificially imposed this entropy on the Self in the attempt to dissolve it, therefore “ending suffering.” Through a process of relinquishing everything – thought, will, desire, love – all is stripped away to the point that there ceases to be any awareness of one’s Self as an autonomous, sovereign individual personality.

Achieving enlightenment is a bit like dismantling your car, throwing all its parts aside, in the search for the “True Car” within. Eventually you’ll find that there is no car, but that doesn’t mean the car has ceased to exist. It’s simply in pieces, scattered all over the general vicinity.

So it is with enlightenment. One removes everything that can be removed, leaving the physical body and conscious mind. You’ve got peace – but it’s the peace of death; entropy that has reached zero-point. You’ve got detachment – the literal detachment of all one’s parts from their centralized location in the 3D world. Scattered around your physical body at various points on the nonphysical spectrum are all your parts, who may care a bit more about what’s happening, but can’t do a damn thing about it. Desire-based aspects that either can’t fulfill themselves, or can do nothing but. Mobility with no direction. A navigator that can’t go anywhere. An interpreter and assigner of value that exists in a state of sensory deprivation. Passion without an object. And, more than likely, a Higher Self going “well, crap… lost another one to that whole ‘enlightenment’ fad.” One does indeed rid themselves of the part that is capable of suffering (and joy!) but that part simply continues to suffer, cut off from a mind that no longer has the capacity to notice or care.

I’m a bit more wary of Buddhism and all its derivatives than the Abrahamic religions, for a few reasons. The cultivation of siddhis, i.e. nonphysical sensing and metaphysical abilities, is strongly discouraged and viewed as a distraction on the path to enlightenment. Anything that might be seen or heard in meditation is dismissed as illusory and inconsequential. Read: all the skills and perceptive abilities you need to notice that all your ejected parts continue to exist just beyond your awareness, are ignored until the parts of you that make those perceptions possible are, themselves, relinquished.

Secondly, at least with the Abrahamic religions, once you decide to stop believing in them, you can change course and choose a different direction (assuming you don’t live in a place where doing so is still hazardous to your physical health). Your mind may be heavily conditioned, but it’s still largely intact. Your will may have been submitted, but you can pick it back up again. Your identity may have been conformed to an arbitrary ideal that has little to do with the expression of your authentic Self, but it’s still yours if you want it. Your sexual capacity may require extensive retrievals and emergency services to get it back into a healthy and functional state, but at least there’s enough of you left to make it happen.

As one gets closer to “enlightenment,” they get further and further away from a position where they could reintegrate their parts and attain wholeness, without great difficulty. In all my experience with reintegration – even unconscious reintegration – at the very least, there needs to be a desire to move in a direction that encourages one’s fragments to return. To achieve conscious reintegration, especially of parts unwilling or unable to return on their own, requires some combination of “siddhis,” mind, will, heart, desire and passion – all things that one who aspires to enlightenment aims to extinguish. In its quest to “get off the wheel,” Buddhism and its derivatives actually make a literal mess of the Self that may take many, many more incarnations to clean up. Even restarting that process may have to wait until enough fragments somehow find their way back to each other, to make for an at least semi-functional physical incarnation.

Good Cop, Bad Cop

It happens in many cases that people come to reject whichever Western religion they grew up in, only to embrace Buddhism, or some popular strain of New Age thought that has helped to propagate many of its precepts in the West. After all the striving to please a God for whom nothing ever quite measures up, Buddhism and its derivatives do seem like a much needed rest. Considering the effects that all those traditions actually have upon an individual soul however, it becomes apparent that for those in this position, they’re leaving behind the more overtly authoritarian face of one religion for another, seemingly more benign facade… which will effectively finish the job of destroying everything that makes us human before they’ve ever had a chance to fully experience themselves. While they will eventually get that chance, it will likely require traveling a long, hard road back to spiritual health and wholeness. Even if one stops and changes course somewhere along these paths of self-annihilation, there will still be heavy losses to one’s personal power and natural functions. Throw in the amnesia of a new incarnation that has returned to find its scattered parts, but has to go through the process of figuring out what it’s there for (which it may or may not!)… it becomes evident that we may be doing this for quite a while.

The Separation of Oneness

Due to its current popularity and the likelihood that most of my readers will have had at least some experience with it, the New Age doctrine of oneness deserves a mention. While striving to increase one’s ability to live in harmony is a worthy goal, this is not what actually happens in practice. Most people who emphasize the goal of “oneness with the cosmos,” are not one within themselves — and their methods for achieving the former ensures that the latter won’t happen. Rather than a collection of individuals who are able to express themselves, each in their own authentic way, in harmony and wholeness similar to the cells of a healthy body, most who value “oneness” try to get there by rejecting the “inconvenient” or otherwise not so nice parts of themselves in much the same way many religions would have us do. Personal boundaries are relinquished, causing one to embrace things as part of the Self that didn’t originate there, reject other parts that did, and still others simply drift away due to a lack of a consistent, well defined center that would provide a sense of inner cohesion. The most common conception of “oneness” is not a state of harmony within and without, but rather a sort of top-down, spiritual totalitarianism with a pleasant shiny veneer, where one’s value is recognized only in terms of contribution to a collective, and authentic individuality is discouraged to foster a false sense of civility. Same effect, slightly different packaging. More on the folly of many of the most popular New Age ideas can be found in my recent article on why I’m not a lightworker.

Given how much of the world population is and has historically professed membership in the religions that are the source of so much fragmentation, it is probably safe to say that anybody who’s incarnated a few times has spent some time in one or more of them, and thus may well have at least a few pieces missing. A future post will outline some of the ways for achieving spiritual rehabilitation and moving toward wholeness, in light of this. Now that we’ve seen some of the effects that the most common spiritual ideals have on the Self from a physical word perspective though, the next post in the series will shift our attention to the fragments themselves, and the well known paranormal and metaphysical phenomena that their existence may help to explain.
